Putting Greg and Kelly's speech back to back is so iconic. Especially since neither of them actually determined anything with the numbers. They both had made up their minds beforehand.

I'm sorry, but I quite did not understand that question. Why is that question so iconic? I haven't watched Borneo. 😅
@yaboi9126 жыл бұрын
Basically everyone in the first season was being super serious and chastising the finalists. Greg gets up there and asks this question right in the middle of it to sort of make light of how silly the whole thing was. They showed every vote at the final tribal except for his, so it seemed like his question really did indicate his decision, but he said after he was going to vote for Rich the whole time. Similarly, Kelly Wiggles always was voting for Jeremy, but wanted to throwback to her season where she lost by one vote. @

For anybody still wondering why Ethan said 888 as his answer, Kelly said at the start she didn't think either of them got to know her at all, so she had them choose a number between one and a thousand. Kim casually said three, but Ethan really thought about it and said 888, the number she was looking for was 568 which was a reference to The Graduate, her favorite movie which they had talked about before. he was trying to remember that reference. She also gave him her vote.

@@encycl07pedia- the way i think of it is: shes asking that question for a reason… the number has to mean something so between 1-1000 choosing 3 is showing you dont really care vs. 888 which took some thought. it is a guessing game so stressing over choosing the right number is wrong, you just have to put some thought into what your answer will tell. in a different video two contestants were asked to choose between 1-1,000,000 and they low balled like 4 and 10 and the guys face looked so disappointed. you have a million options and you go easy and choose 4? it shows where someone mentality is at in a way, although it depends on who asked it. different people have different reasons for using this number game but unless its 1-10 you should never pick a low number like that and you dont have to know what their endgame is with the answers… u just have to try lol

If you were one of the finalists sitting at the final tribal council, and a jury member bases their vote on the "pick a number between" question, would it not be more advantageous to be the jury member that answers the question second? So, for example, Richard in Borneo answers with "7." Instead of saying "3," Kelly could have said "6," which means that she wins the vote if the juror's number was 1 through 6, whereas Richard only wins if the number is 7 through 10. She is 20% more likely to get her number closest to the juror's actual number. To be the first finalist to answer that question, your best bet then is to answer "5," because you've secured numbers 1-5, and the second finalist can, at best, say "6" and secure numbers 6-10. It's a 50-50 likelihood. If I'm looking into this way too much or there's something about the nature of this question I'm missing, please let me know. I'll humbly admit it and shut up lol.
@parkerduncan9783 жыл бұрын
I think some of the jurors who ask the pick a number question don’t actually pick the closest number like with Kelley in Africa she wanted to see if they listened to her or not and with Kelly in Cambodia I think she wanted to see if they would pick a number right next to the person or be humble and pick a random one. That’s just my take but like you said I may be wrong as well and I’ll humbly admit that

She had a lot more stuff in her speech besides the pick a number between one and ten part.

Eager Turtle I guess but she still just copied the other one and the originals are probably more iconic

Probably because of what it symbolizes. It's bringing the show as a whole full circle. It's such a small moment but INFINITELY powerful with what it means to Survivor.

Qwe Rty Ethan won because he built up a reputation for being the nice guy. He predicted that Kelly wasn’t really basing her vote off of picking a number between 1 and 1000. So he picked a high number, maintained his nice guy brand, and won both Kelly’s vote and the game. It was a strong move.

Qwe Rty I think people put too much thought in to this. The jurors who ask this must already have their minds made up. In Borneo Greg really respected Richard and his game. Kelly has very little respect

I feel like Kelly was a little undecided when she was giving the speech but after the other two just followed Jeremy saying three and four after he said two it just cemented it in her mind that Jeremy deserved to win

Spencer made the logical choice though, by saying 4 he ensured the most possible numbers were closest to his pick after the other 2 had chosen

Oz held hard feelings for parv when she duped him and fans versus favorites and Edna's explaining that we shouldn't take it personally it's just a game and it's a game out what I'll play out last and they basically did that to us so we shouldn't be angry at them if they blindsided us or voted us off it was just strategic moves nothing personal that is how the jury should feel every time but someone like Debbie Ozzy and James would take it to personally

in all honesty I think any "humanitarian" that goes into an explanation about how much they help people is doing it for selfish reasons even if they dont realize it. They are doing it for the feel goods, pats on the backs, and to see people admire them for "giving". True they are doing good but they aren't doing it solely purely out of kindness.

I haven't watched like probably half of the seasons or more. Are there any seasons where the final people aren't just the ones that backstabbed all the other good people? It'd be pretty cool to see like actual all good people make it to the end instead of every single final 3 being 1 kinda good person, 1 idiot that is clearly not winning, and another idiot or meh person.
