The best type of labor. All you need to do for child labor is make the work that they are doing seem fun, and because children have a lot of energy they can do that all day. Even better if you make the children rotate between different jobs so they don't get bored by repeting the same thing over and over.

Peter- a couple of suggestions from a plumber; build the wings with an upward curl- it should be easier to build a little "tension" into them to stop that wing deflection, run the ailerons further inboard to reduce the twist, and set up the motors to push/pull to condense their weight closer to the body of the plane. That's what comes to me- btw, killer post crash analysis- I had to watch it twice, once at half speed, to get a clear idea what twist you were talking about! Another thought, but needs big servo; make the whole wing tip section the aileron and it's pivot from the center of the wing- that could also reduce the twisting of the wing itself. But, I have faith- you will make this fly and work- and the fella that thought you ought to be flying in it may get the shock of his life! FR

Very nice...like the multi-motor approach....and cheers for the success! Dateline: Bayfield, Wisconsin, late summer, 2005. A young man, Hans, calling himself "FlyBike" on RC Groups attempted a 50-foot span foamy...his 8 foot and 28 foot versions had flown wonderfully off the frozen lake In Madison, WI where it was built in a dormitory hallway! You can still find the build threads at RC Groups! They were named Floyd, Pink Floyd, and Big Floyd for the 8 , 25, and 50 foot models, respectively. (made of pink Fanfold Foam) The 50-footer's wing had just short of a 4 foot chord wing made up of four, 8 foot wing panels plus the 2 foot fuselage. Three of AXI's biggest motors turning a 60" X 24", carved balsa/fiberglass prop via toothed belt I drove three hours to join in the festivities...rain...rain all day. We looked the plane over and I thought that the drive belt looked a little narrow. We went into town to try and get lucky with an automotive timing belt, but the auto parts place was closed. We even went 20 more miles to Ashland, but there was nothing that would work. Back to the farm, and the rain quit, the clouds parted, and left us JUST enough time to get to the donated alfalfa field and set up before sundown. The attempt was made AFTER sunset. The runup to speed was long and gentle, owing to the sketchiness of that belt. Just as she was getting really light and tip-toe-y on the 20" bicycle wheel landing gear, there was a ripping/crunching sound magnified by all that flat foam! The belt had lost most of its teeth when FlyBike gave it that last bit of throttle. the plane settled back into her suspension and we went out to drag her back. She was disassembled by car headlights. FlyBike went off to Madison for his second year of engineering school the next day, and that was that!

Did we make 25 motors CW and 25 motors CCW, cause if not, that's an awful lot of torque roll. No wonder there was no ability to stop it banking. Thank you guys for continuing to go overboard. There is nothing more rewarding than pushing convention out the window and having it succeed. That is why planes with long narrow wings usually use spoilers instead of ailerons. After a certain point, ailerons tend to twist the wing causing an inverse control reaction.
