In this adventure John Overstreet comes to visit with a partially built C-130 Hercules cargo plane. Made out of foamboard, carbon fiber tubes, aluminum tubes, plywood, and a ton of zip ties we aren't sure if this humungous remote-controlled airplane will fly! This is the first time we use four Monster Motors on a plane and lots of things could go wrong... including if we crash, it could do some serious damage.

What saddens me is the aviation industry NEEDS people that are in the RC world and many times snobby, often flippant professional aerospace engineers dismiss this as "well it's just a hobby" really? With guys like this making awesome planes and tanks that fly, perhaps engineers could take cues and we could possibly see a "flying tank" or the incredible Robotech(TM) aircraft which can transform into fighting machines. Keep up the awesome work guys!!

@@JoshWeaverRC I was in millitary aviation and I worked with Boeing and other groups for many years on the C-17A Globemaster III and it is NO assumption. I have told several engineers that I happened to enjoy RC flying and some just dismiss it as toys. I did not say NASA anywhere in my statement and I said it out of experience with civilian and military contactors. So with respect, don't assume everyone who says these things are a troll or discrediting every engineer or technician, but some of us have had to live with so called "experts" calling our hobby toys or silly.

LarryH54 the m1a1 Abrams is not capable of airborne insertion. The last tank to be dropped from an aircraft was the Sheridan. Also for safety reasons, all vehicles are dropped from separate aircraft after the first wave of paratroopers have landed and secured the drop zone. It wouldn’t be a very fun if you land and perform a perfect plf only to have a hmmwv land on you. But in micro scale with toys it could be cool to see.

So, I see everyone getting upset about the amount of ad’s in these videos. I have a few things I’d like to say. 1. Yes this is not the original FliteTest with Josh and Josh. And thank god. That stuff worked. And it was good. But these crazy ideas is what has made this a more palatable channel and one that can attract more viewers. These guys need to make a living too. And if it means me fast forwarding through 2 minutes of a dollar shave club ad to get some decent content. So be it. 2. As I mentioned previously, it’s not the original Josh and Josh. However. FliteTest is not the only thing that has changed. It’s getting harder and harder for KZbin content creators to make the money they used to. KZbin has changed also. They have to change for it all to work. If what your all saying is you want FliteTest without the ads, the only response I have is, it isn’t possible. I create content here on KZbin. We make zero money on it. 10 years ago it would’ve been possible. But with more content comes a more difficult ability to make money straight from the content. Entertainment is a commodity and is no different than oil or beef. If you think everything that goes into this can just be done in an afternoon on a Saturday you’re sadly mistaken, the production quality and capital that go into this channel are second to none. But that requires sponsorship, and again; suffer through the 2 minute plug? Is it that big of a deal? Most of us watch NFL on Sunday’s and we all sit through ads to watch it. If the content is good we will always come back. I would love for anyone to try and debate with me the fact that doing this without sponsorship is impossible, I work in marketing. And these guys do a great job at keeping the ads to a minimum for us. 3. This one is to the guys at FliteTest, and I hope they see this. You guys do a great job. I can hardly open a model aviation magazine anymore without seeing something from you guys in it. And that’s awesome. You’ve kept this hobby alive and you now carry the torch. It’s a hefty responsibility. You are the 21st century RCM magazine. You have ideas, innovation, and content that keep people interested. Thank you so much for doing this for the hobby that’s been in so many people’s families for many years. As long as the content is good (which it is.) we’ll keep coming back for years and years to come. 4. In closing. Josh Bixler used to come and fly back at our field, when he lived in our neighborhood. He was a great guy, very personable and cared about the experience we all shared. He’s a good dude. He’s keeping the hobby going. Watch the Dollar Shave Club ad. It will be over soon, and watch these guys create something amazing.

BRAVO!!!! Excellent mini lecture on the economics of quality KZbin Productions, which FliteTest is a superb example of. There are obviously a lot of people we never see involved in each and every episode. These guys exude passion and commitment in everything they do, but that don't feed their kids. If they went to a Patreon Format I'd throw them $5.00 a month gladly, they went to ads so I can enjoy their content free. So quit yer bitchin!

@@zxbigmikexz That's what I'm talking about; the C130's wing span is longer than its body, but the A12's body is longer than its wing span. So "in scale" the A12 would be 15' long. Epic ;-P
