Quick tip, under the pen setting in windows, you can adjust your pressure sensitivity so that the full “flow” comes on with a lot more or a lot less pressure. That should help you get more consistent line thickness with the 520, and if you slowly adjust it out, you can get back to where it is set now and build up your natural pressure consistency over time! I just picked up a 520 last week and I love it! I remapped the erase button to activate undo(ctrl+z) since, if I want an eraser, I can just select an eraser brush pretty easily, but now I have a fast undo for lines I’m not happy with.

Where did you buy your raphael 520 from? I remember seeing on Amazon that some people said they couldn't reprogram the buttons :( Also would you still recommend the pen? After several months. Ive been looking at getting one!

you can adjust the pressure for the Raphael higher in the Microsoft Surface app, set it to 10 and it will behave like the Surface Pen (hit WIN and then type Surface)

Hi! I bought the Raphael 530 pen. In general, the pen works well. I tried it on different software: 1) in windows WhiteBoard the eraser works too. 2) in Gimp and in Krita the eraser does not work. None of the Software I have tried recognizes the pen tilt. How can I enable the eraser in all software? How can I activate the pen tilt?

I tried using the Raphael 520 surface pen on every device i have (Windows 10 Laptop, IPad Pro, My Iphone 8 plus, etc.) and it won’t work on anything. If you read this comment can you please tell me what i should do for it to work 😅(might be because i don’t have a drawing tablet XD)

The Raphael is designed for surface pro/go devices only so it won’t work on the devices you listed unfortunately :(

I got the surface pen for $60 new off ebay. I wanted to get the raphael. but not sure, this video just kinda confirmed it. I dont have problems with the surface pen.

According to this video ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6bclKCGqch0r7s ), Renaisser supplies the Raphael 520 pen to other Brands such as Ciscle and Uogic. If you happen to find one of the other brands, be sure to check that it has the tilt sensitivity, so it should be the newer model.

U can get the surface pen for cheap from third party sellers, they're often a refurbished product or factory seconds I think . .. I got a surface pen for like $65 AUD on eBay! And it's legit! It came with all the papers and stuff. But I dislike how the rubber end gets used up so easily, like it starts flaking on me

I actually really like how both drawings came out! When you explained your style the surface pro makes perfect sense for your use case. I do think the Raphael brought out a different "personality" to your strokes that really resonated with me so I would say your technique works beautifully with both tools. I'm going to be trying the Raphael since I am really focused on photorealism right now. I also like your face and your content! You've got a new subbie. 😁
