Your base for the Starlink is brilliant - if it turns out to be in the exact right spot, you could face the cement slabs with small stones and it would be very much like the rock next to it. Sort of cairn like. A proper combination of ancient and high tech!

Probably because they are becoming extinct, in this polluted electrified world we live in today. No one knows how dangerous electric Wi-Fi and magnetic frequencies are. Our birds and bees are dying because we love our computers and mobile phones. I got rid of my mob a long time ago, I never liked them, I come from a time of landline if you were out you were out. I love that freedom. this iPad is next as I am not prepared to consent to any more contracts.

I grew up early in life as my parents “homesteader” rural Alaska. No roads in to the area of Talkeetna. Early 1950s. I love watching the light on the water and the wee island beyond where you were at the end of your video. People will always complain about cats:but, your cat is an indoor pet most of the time. Perhaps paint the top paving stone with yoghurt and a little soot to encourage the growth of moss and lichens. Adding bits of wood etc on top would help disguise things?

I wouldn’t worry too much about how it looks, although once you’ve put rocks and moss around it it’ll be so much better, but it sort of shouts ‘real modern people live here’ which I think is just amazing. To live somewhere so fantastically remote and yet be connected to the whole world 😀 we’re in rural Spain and had similar issues with internet until we got Starlink… it’s a brilliant service. It’ll transform your lives 😃 I kid you not!

Could you disguise the star-link set up with a “fence”/cage of green cami-netting? Some types are really effective for hiding things like unsightly wheely-bins/dustbins & maybe star-link stands. Obviously the actual dish would have to be clear & unobstructed, but all those slabs & it’s stand could potentially be camouflaged. Love from Annie, in Foggy Cornwall, 🙂🌸

I know there have been a few 'extras', like the mad dash across the island re-edited, but it's a significant milestone, especially with the launch of Starlink. Fine work, you two! It may not look lovely and natural, but it's a necessity. Rather like those BIG TV dishes in people's yards, years ago. Technology develops, and in 10 years, that dish will be obsolete, and there will be something tiny and hidden in the grass :) When I saw the thumbnail photo, I thought the dish was sitting on a wooden base. The concrete slabs, from the side, look like wooden slats. It's not too bad as it is!

Glad you got your internet sorted! It might be cute if you could plant some flowers around it when the stone's done. Even if you could only fit something on the side facing the cottage, at least the pillar might look a bit better from your side. Though, it might have to be something... if there is such a thing... that sheep won't want to eat. Or if you were to build up stone around the whole point of land, there, just shy of the top of the platform so hopefully water wouldn't be a problem by pooling there in heavy rain, you could fill the whole with dirt, and create a little elevated garden space, like a raised garden bed, only with stone sides, if that would make it harder for the sheep to eat everything in it. Or am I just being ridiculous? 😅
