man i just bought a 71 mg midget 2months ago. i never though i would enjoy it so much after being a gear head an having much faster cars. but my god this car is insanely fun to drive fun to be in an just a pleasure to own. no expensive sensors or catalytic converter to go bad or get damaged. im 6'1 175 an i have no problem fitting in this car i totally love it

Not knowing the actual condition of your car, but if you decide to start improving/rebuilding any of the components consider starting with the lever shock absorbers. The back ones can go a long way, but the front ones are also the upper suspension arm so they are far more critical for good handling.

Me and the wife had MG-B's..4 of them at the same time..for 15 years in northern Colorado..I drove mine 40000 miles per year..my wife put 35000 miles on hers...The other two, a 1967 GT and a 1968 Roadster, were fun drivers..built up a little for track and canyon..We took the daily drivers all over the country..to Ma. , to Mn, to Ca. , to tx. , to Tn. , every lower 48 state..I always got back home under power..The 500 mile trip is just a nibble...

Brother: Dig: This vid of you driving your Midget is absolute dynamite. Makes yours truly want to learn how to drive stick, and maybe even getting a Midget in reasonably good shape. The only situation that I find a bit difficult is driving a stick in NYC traffic. Why? Rowing the stick in stop and go traffic. That could get tired after a while I guess. But the fun of being one with the machine is what turns yours truly on. I once rode in the passenger seat of a coworker's Midget. He kept the top up because we took a highway and the wind buffeting would have been too much. I admired him and how he handled that stick shift. If he could do it then so can I, with practice. Anyway friend, sorry for bending your ear, or your eyes in reading this. Happy trails! Do you still own it? His Midget was white, similar to yours. Peace...🙏🏹♐

Cool car, cool ride, cool dog, cool navigator, cool video. You could always get a trunk mounted luggage rack. I am currently helping with a complete restoration of a round arch. Hopped up 1275 with a Datsun 5 speed. Everything was removed to include the interior. Body sand blasted. No expense spared. Down to the wiring now. If I fit in a Midget (legs too long, feet too wide) I'd one another, but happy with my 63 MGB.

Doggie! Beautiful car, and an outstanding video. Thank you for sharing. What is the build date,? That is a round wheel arch car, so I'm assuming late 1971, making it a 1972 model year. I, too, would be interested in knowing the rear-end gear ratio. Stock would have been 3.9:1, where yours has possibly been upgraded to 3.7:1 (diff from the last two years of rubber bumper production). 3.55:1 ring and pinions are available, but that might be too tall for your engine in the mountains. Also, were you able to get any video or pictures from the event that you might like to share here? I post on the MG Experience forum as Steve-in-Florida. See you there? Cheers from Florida.

He said when he was buying gas that it's a 71. Same year as mine, one year before the round wheel arches. I've got a set of 3.7:1 gears in mine and a Datsun 5 speed trans, that makes the car much nicer at highway speeds.

@@rodshop5897 How hard is that Datsun swap? I'd sure love a 5 speed and a synchronized first gear.
@rodshop5897Ай бұрын
@@FullThrottleMonty From what I heard, it was not too difficult for the previous owner. Rivergate Transmissions made a kit to make it easier. The hard part now is finding a transmission from an old Datsun.

she runs pretty good for a little 1275
@cdjhyoung10 ай бұрын
The 1500's weren't as good an engine as the 1275's. The 1500's were jerry rigged to pass pollution laws in the US far more than the 1275's were ever called on to do and suffered badly from it in comparison. That and jacking up the suspension to comply with bumper height laws made the 1500s much less desirable cars.

"Top up because of the storms" Pans to big rip in the top. 😬 Your doggo is so easy to travel with! In our Midget the top makes so much noise snapping against the top frames at speed that we try not to drive above about 50. How did you get yours to be so quiet?

@@SirDrifto have you looked at the markings of the diff they might tell you what diff you have. I did change the diff on my A/H Sprite MK1 for i think a late model Morris Minor Traveller diff which made things much more comfortable at higher speed but at the cost of acceleration.
