What I use for light box is a glass table with a lamp under it. Works perfectly (If you have a very short stool to sit on)

I absolutely LOVE your style. Everything is so simple and minimalistic. I’ve been trying to find my style for a while and struggle at times. I find myself easily being able to copy a photo, but can never “succeed” at drawing from my mind. Your videos have made me realize that drawing doesn’t have to be “perfect” and “realistic” and that it can actually be fun and to not over think (which I tend to do A LOT). If you were to go to the town called Pinafore and asked about the forest of the north, you would get ether of two responses. One it's quite nice to take a morning stroll or two never go into those cursed woods at night when it's moon high. Of course most people listened to the warnings but then there's always that one person who's a bit too curious. A young traveler had checked into a small hotel but was said to have left around 8:30pm during the night. A week past and a message had to be sent out that the traveler had gone missing.

The last time I drew on a window it was during school, and when I had finished sketching my arm had fallen asleep completely, it was so numb I couldn't feel my fingers and it was extremely tired. Same goes for the arm who had to hold up the paper lmao. It wasn't even that bright outside.

artist hack: use a piece of glass from a large picture frame with a flashlight under it!!! you can move around with it to wherever you're sitting, and that way you don't have to hold your arms up at an awkward angle to trace!! that's how i "light box"

I used to use the 'drawing against the window' technique when I was younger, but it always bugged me when I couldn't do it at night, or my arm would get tired. So I started using my laptop screen as a "DIY Lightbox"! Not only did my mom fall in love with the idea, but she apparently told her friends at work about it. So now they use their laptops as light boxes!

Another artist hack if you’re drawing at nighttime, you can use your laptop and search white blank screen and just turn off your lights! Do it gently though you won’t want to mess up your computer screen

Both are wonderful, but I like the night scene best. Please get yourself a light box. I purchased one from Amazon recently (made by Cricut) and it is amazing. Although I work more with fabric & textiles, I do occasionally play with watercolors. Over a year ago I sketched and inked a wonderful line drawing. But I never inked it because I was afraid I’d mess it up. Watching this made me realize I can trace a copy of my original line drawing and ink the copy. I have used my light box several times and it has already become an important tool in my studio.

I don't have a light box either, and I used to do the window thing until I started working at a stained glass shop. Now I put a scrap piece of glass on my lap and place a flashlight between my legs, under the glass. Sure you gotta ruin your back but it is easier than drawing on a window...

Graphite transfer is useful if you don't have a lightbox, even though it can be messy and you dirty up the back of the original sketch (or if you print a copy to do it with, you don't have to!) :D

Something that I have done before was use a piece of plexiglass or a thick piece of plastic of some kind (I had one laying around that we used to use as like...a wall guard behind the trash can so I wouldn’t scratch the wall up) and I put a small little table lamp underneath it and set the plastic on top of two evenly sized boxes or two chairs, whatever...and that worked nicely!! Especially since I usually draw at night...

Or honestly building one would be seriously really easy. Just a wooden box with a clear plastic piece on top with a light insert on the side 🤷🏼‍♀️ and if you wanted the plexiglass kinda fogged up...just paint the underneath of it white!
