100% disabled Army vet. I had a 2002 Chief I ended up selling after I got in the wheelchair. It was an amazing bike that would move like a crotch rocket but felt like a cruiser. The 47 however was my favorite looking bike. Saw one at a bike show when I was a kid and it was love at first sight. (57 years old now)

Looking at the auctions I'd put this at 35k to 45k. The low mileage helps, but the non-original paint hurts. I'd say the best looking bike of all time is a Vincent Black Knight or Black Lightening. Although the Brough are pretty nice too.

My dad had one that sat in our garage since 1964 and it sat in our garage for over 40 years. It was also a '47, identical to the one in the video. I remember he sold it for $25,000 on ebay but it wasn't quite as clean as this one, original paint nonetheless. My guess is that this one is worth every bit of $35,000-40,000 given the condition and low mileage, perhaps even $50,000 could be brought for you bike. That is just a guess and I didn't look it up.

I grew up on those bikes because there was a pro wrestler named Undertaker, his character drastically changed in the year 2000 and his character at that particular time was called the "American Badass" where he would come out for his entrance riding all of these motorcycles and I thought that was incredible! To me, the sexiest motorcycle out there is the Indian Chief like the one you are detailing. I've always loved those big, flowing fenders! Ever since I first saw one in a museum back in high school then I've always wanted one to call my own. Even then they were very expensive to purchase. I never got into a position where I could bag one of those beauties for $300.00. If ever one came up though then I'd jump on it in a shot! To me the perfect Indian Chief would be around that year there but with a springer front end.

Funny to read about people who are complaining about 'losing value' because it was not original paint. It was repainted fifty years earlier. If you want to be that much of a stick in the mud, then the bike should of been rolled right off of the showroom floor in 1947 and locked in a cryogenic vault for the last eighty years. Vehicles are owned by multiple people, they are driven, they are maintained, they are repainted. This one has been lovingly cared for. In the 1970's nobody was going to be able to call up the Indian Motorcycle company and buy a gallon of 'original' 1947 vintage paint to redo their bike with. I think it looks gorgeous.
