Thanks for the update Rob, your explanation on the cause of the bearing failure was excellent. Makes perfect sense and I visualised the balance shaft moving across sideways and the oil gushing out the hole under pressure . . . as you said, "like a stuck pig!" lol. All because that little 10mm headed bolt backed out. Bummer. Note to self . . be sure to loctite that bolt whenever I tear down and reassemble my (or anyone's) Busa engine. This information you are sharing is very much appreciated, it is so difficult to find any technical info based on experience such as yours, on the net or even from any techs that I know personally. Here in NZ there is very few Busas in circulation, let alone being turboed or even built, so the info is thin on the ground here. At some point I will build my Gen 1 engine, it has 80,000 miles on it and still strong, but one day it will get the treatment it so deserves with top shelf parts and performance components. Looking forward to your next vid mate, look after yourself and don't forget to rest occasionally. Kiwi Rider @ the oRg.

Hey Rob, thank you for creating these videos. I enjoy them a lot. I like the way you talk it out. We are all learning. I have not rebuilt my Hayabusa yet but someday maybe. Your oil situation could happen to anyone. Don’t sweat it man. I think you were on a good line of thinking on the “500 hp for $1,500” thing. I agree with all of your points. You were right on the line with the stuck ring thing. That was close. Coulda been a lot worse! Keep up the good work! 🤘🏼👍🏼

Just subscribed and thank you for the channel to follow. I personally had a 400hp 2005 turbo Hayabusa rocking a gtx3076r gen1. It was a rocking experience and learning curb on what it takes to make it a safe and daily. I lost my engine do to harmonics after deleting my counter balancer even with a balanced crankshaft with the gear professionally removed. Not going to go into the details on it but she had rods, pistons and studs of course. I hope your future Journey moving forward helps on any previous failures that you have experienced. I'm personally in the market looking for a salvage gen 1 Hayabusa to start the new project myself.

Thanks for watching. I’m building a gen 1 right now with a GTX3076 GEN2. Pretty crazy you can get a 700hp turbo in what was a 500hp turbo footprint. When I make the tear down video I’ll show what went down. It was a stupid problem.

What's the arrangement with the turbo oil feed, you.might be losing pressure if you've changed that. Path of least resistance...
@BoostedCyclePerformance3 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the idea, but the oil feed hasn’t changed. It’s set up the same way as I’ve done on hundreds of turbo bikes. The balance shaft was the culprit.

Good video mate, just great. So knowing that the balance shaft / low oil pressure was the culprit of the set back do you still believe you are on track for 500hp with this budget set up? I ask because I too built my own Busa turbo kit on a Gen2 engine and like you like to experiment. I think I’ll follow your ideas only I intend to CNC machine the crown of the stock pistons to lower the CR, maintain the outer squish and stock cam sprockets ie use no spacer. E85 fuel

@BoostedCyclePerformance3 жыл бұрын
Yep, if it weren’t for losing oil pressure I planned to throw 25lbs of boost at it. At the point where I stopped, the bike was picking up 25hp per pound of boost. So at 25psi, that would be deep in to the 500’s. Of course I’m going to rebuild. I just need the time to do it.
