I really wanted an engine builder/tuner to comment on this engine - so a massive THANKS Rob ! When I heard the info on the gen 3, I thought like you, Suzuki have helped the aftermarket tuning world here. I mean the gen 1 and 2 are damn durable units, Suzuki have made it stronger still !!! I think it shows that Suzuki really did make a turbo version to evaluate what to do on the gen 3 ..... then potential cost made them move away from the turbo, but they left the strengthening additions. ECU aside, this bike is ready for so many upgrades, boosted and NA. For people who just like riding the gen 3 will be a nicer bike to ride, day to day, a wider torque band will do that. Looking forward to your first video on boosting this new version, I hope you can unlock the ECU, as some of the anti wheelie/ spin functions could be helpful (?).... thanks again for the great video 👍🙂

Paper hp chasers don't have a clue. Suzuki outsmarted the Euro5 and gentleman's agreement with the Gen3. It took a while to come up with something but they did it. I feel the Gen3 has ungodly amounts of hidden power waiting to be discovered. Just wait and see...

I hope there is hidden HP I raced one with my gen2 that has simple mods . Pipe .Sprint filter.PGR tune.short stacks. Smoked it bad. Love hayabusas

I expected the gen 3 to have at least 220 horsepower. Despite the gen 3 having top technology on board, I am disappointed. you can't have less horsepower than a gsx-r 1000. come on suzuki. we want a real beast that is the fastest of all production motorcycles. like the gen 1 in 1999.

Really like your channel and the information you share. I recall Suzuki releasing some patents years ago showing the now quick shifter and even some turbo patents. The creators even mentioned that they tested some turbo examples, bigger motor examples but decided a more improved 1340cc with better oil passages, etc was better. However you look at, this new new motor design is the future of whats left to come like you said..

Thank you. I really feel like that’s the writing on the wall. How soon? No telling. I knew about the turbo patents you speak of. Seems like a huge waste of money in r@d to come out with and updated more reliable engine that’s identical to the previous generation. With emissions, I doubt we will ever see any substantial increase in displacement. Engine efficiency will likely be the road taken. Turbos get efficiency over 100%, so seems like the solid play for the Busa.

No doubt suzuki made a stronger bike, I'm a die hard suzuki person. GSXR1100, DRZ400E, GSXR 1000 05, Hayabusa 1397cc, yosh cams, JE pistons, air shifter etc, built by Johnny Cheese . I have a ZX14R now for the last 7 years, I know suzuki doesn't have Kawasaki Heavy Industries money, but with the H2, H2SX H2R etc suzuki had a chance with the B-King concept supercharger, as many hayabusa are sold, way more than ZX14R's, they could have done more. I might buy a turbo hayabusa if they produce one, but a good, clean used H2 sounds like the way to go now !

@sen Yes, you can put a turbo on it. Stock internals won’t make 400 hp.

So there's not going to be Frankenstein engines like gen 1+2 for setups? Seems like a relatively easy fix, especially if the header profile is the same for gen 3. Means that regardless of cams if you want to bore it out you'll still need a gen 1 head unless you have endless money to throw away.

Gen 1 cylinders you mean. I’m sure exhaust port spacing is the same, so aftermarket exhausts can be had quickly. Like I said in the video I don’t think we will see anything over gen 2 hp numbers until the cams are addressed.

yes you can buy turbo kits for them google. very similar to the bandit and hayabusa.

No, you don’t need one. Until the stock ecus get hacked, the only option is to run a power commander PCV PTi.

Instead of just making ignorant comments, perhaps you’d like to share with the class what you see wrong with my logic. Unshrouding valves for less turbulent flow into the cylinders is common practice on basic head porting on other platforms. It’s also common knowledge that removing material from a combustion chamber increases its volume. But go ahead and shoot holes in my logic, maybe you can teach me something. After all, that’s the whole point of this part of my channel. Teaching and learning.

@@BoostedCyclePerformance bigger combustion chamber lowers compression , it does not increase cylinder volume. It increases residual gases , not fresh charge , so makes less power. But for boost you must lower compression because of knock , so it is a compromise , like always. You must also change cam overlap because of lower compression.

@@V8Lenny I think you may have missed a few things that I said in the video. The gen 3 and gen 2 have the same 12.5:1 compression in stock form. I never said anything about larger chambers having anything to do with cylinder volume. I did say that because the chambers are larger, that there had to be changes to the pistons in order to make up the difference in compression with larger chambers. The gen2 and Gen3 engines have the same bore and stroke. That’s why I showed the new pistons vs old to show that the gen 3 has more material on the face of it to keep the compression the same with the larger chambers.

You’re only partially right. I said in BOOSTED applications the larger the chamber, the more air you can cram in, that means more fuel can be burned, which means more power.
