I got to run a 5020 when I was ten, and looking at that big wide hood and those fat tires made me feel like I was really getting something done. That thing was a cat on rubber. Made the “higher” horsepower 4320 look like a toy in tough going. As soon as the rpm’s dropped on the newer one, it was game over. Love seeing how many of these tanks are still at it. They seem to really be popular with road builders, running around with a long string of packers. Great video!!

Setting oil pressure is simple. Turn off that long but, then loosen the jam nut. There is a screw driver slot in the theaded part under that long but, turn it in while tractor is running to get the oil pressure you want it at, then tighten the jam nut and put the long but back on tight!!!! All set! Good to go👍👍👍 Yes I have done it a few times.

@SilverGleaner3 жыл бұрын
umm the 5020 was known as a real dog in my area. They were just too heavy for the power they put out and needed to be turbocharged. Plus the engine was always a potential problem, whether they were turboed or not...... hence why so many were replaced with a Detroit or the only marginally better 619 Deere engine. Deere finally got their act together with the later 40 series and especially the 50 series although they kept that small, hot, crappy cab way too long.

It is just a drag. We used to pull a 20 foot drag with our WD.
@colinlockridge28153 жыл бұрын
If you are comparing those two things apparently you don't farm.
@SilverGleaner3 жыл бұрын
@@colinlockridge2815 I was only joking by bringing up a WD which should have been obvious but I guess not over a keyboard. But Dad did used to put me on his WD to actually pull a spring tooth 5 section drag that was 20 or 25 feet wide. Looks somewhat like that "harrow" but a much lighter and smaller scale and no hydraulic lift. To transport, we lifted the sections up by hand to put on their own hanger and then swung each side of the drag forward and then lifted the heavy wings by hand onto a carrier. We "dragged" after the field cultivator and just before the planter to smooth the field. That was back when I was little and before we had a field cultivator with a drag attached. And yes I do farm but never pulled a so-called "harrow" like that or ever saw one anywhere near here. It looks like an over grown spring tooth drag like we used to pull with the old WD. No one here pulls anything like that in Southern Minnesota. You would be laughed at if you did. Here in my area you need to actually work the soil, not scratch it. We pull plows like chisel plows, moldboard plows, rippers and the new fad is vertical tillage tools which I think will fade away because in my opinion, VT doesn't work here in our heavy black dirt and clay soils. Around me no one uses the word "harrow". The old timers who are long gone used to pull what they called a "harrow" which looked similar to a field cultivator with no wheels that just scratched the dirt surface turning weed roots up to dry out. That's back before my time when you moldboard plowed, disked about 3 times and then ran the "harrow" over just before the planter. And BTW we still moldboard plow sometimes and just a few miles to our west the moldboard plow is still very popular.

The oil pressure may be adjustable but there is concern over how much it drops between 1500 rpm and idle. This difference is a gauge mechanics use to determine crank shaft and bearing status. This differential in pressure per rpm will still exist after the pressure is raised. Oil pressure is lost on worn or improperly fit bearings and also potential blockage in the oil galleries throughout the crankshaft. Viewers wonder if plastigage was employed during the installation of the crankshaft, as this was never filmed.
