Lol that doesn’t sound like a blast to you? Doesn’t sound like a bad time at all, actually preferred IMHO. I miss living in colorado man so much, Im in florida and ir sucks now (moved 2 years ago). We had so many woods we shot in, places out to 700-800 meters no problem. When I built my first ever precision rifle 12 years ago (savage model 10 308 hs precision with leupold mark 4 4.5-14 LRT M1) my buddy and I would get in snow suits and go shooting from 3-6pm as it went from dusk to night in blizzards. That was the best time ever, hands would get cold AF and needed to warm up in the car from time to time, but night shooting or rain/cold weather shooting adds a level of fun that you can’t have any other way

I carry a p2 on duty and like it just fine on an m&p 2. The only downside is battery life. I run my dot bright, usually 1 notch down from max during the day and 3 from max after dark. I've had it about a year and had to change batteries 3 times already (duracell procell). Other than that it's great. I also find the dot more easily and reliably with a closed emitter and carrying iwb with my holosun eps is much easier to keep clean than my old 507c.

ACRO looks nice, my only issue is how expensive they are. I get justifying it if you open carry daily as part of your job, but for those of us who don't it's a tough sell when there is so many good budget options these days. Holosun is great, and I even run a cheapo Primary Arms red dot on a 45 degree offset, has worked flawlessly for me thus far, has aimpoint like battery life, and has been very durable. Hard to justify $600+ on a optic these days, especially when that money can be put into ammo and more training.

@@TonySoprano-on5iu That's at least slightly competitive compared to the 650-750 I usually see. Although I have to re-iterate, I have been using that $200 primary arms dot, it has shake awake, Night vision compatible, very durable. Hard sell even at 475 in comparison to what you can get for cheap these days. Even at that price I would still go with the 200 PA and $275 ammo, but that's just me. I get not wanting to cheap out on optics, but I think these modern Chinese made options are genuinely very well built and reliable compared to what existed 10+ years ago.

I have a SRO on my shadow systems, and I love it! I’ve used it on a FNX-45 Tac, but it’s only got about 200 rounds through it with the SRO on top. I used to have a holosun 507C on top, but ended up selling it like a doofus. Oh I finally got to use an aim point micro on a Glock 45 and it feels more natural to acquire the dot even though the sight window is way smaller (to me) than the SRO. I’m hoping to get a staccato and throw the macro on top (hopefully) soon. I need to find a way to go to your instruction classes, so I can get better as a shooter.

I carry a closed emitter on duty. HOWEVER, I have never had issues with the open emitters. Thousands of rounds in below freezing, rain, snow, 100°+, dirt, sand, ect. If I got another duty gun, idk that I would spend the extra money on a closed emitter. They are great in theory, but I don't think my use is hard enough to warrant it's possible benefits.

I went into the closed emitter rabbit hole and ended up buying a Steiner MPS off of r/gafs. I'll assume that there will be a lot of people in the same boat that will watch this video as part of their "which closed emitter optic do i want" research project so here's my 2 cents. As of now, the only viable choices in my opinion are the Aimpoint Acro P-2 and the Steiner MPS. The Trijicon RCR is backordered/out of stock for another 4 months as of this comment. I even called every gun store in a 30 mile radius and asked and all of them said even the distributors are not getting any for 4 months ish. Holosun is garbage crap if you can afford better, it is adequate for light use if you can't afford anything better (though at that point I'd say spend your money on ammo and training), and it is un-American. All of the optics, from hours of online "research", have had issues. All of them have had cases of mounting issues, fogging inside the lenses, lenses shattering entirely, etc. Some have had these more frequently than others but I can say with reasonable certainty that for high quality giants like Aimpoint and Steiner, the issues have been fixed, or are at least being fixed. This is not a surprise, plenty of products in general will improve over time if the company/brand decides to improve them, but the problem here is they don't really talk about it. That being said, it seems like a lot ("a lot" being relative) of cases of Acro P-2's failing were in the beginning when the product was still very new, but I'm not seeing many or any new posts online of people posting their acro's failing. Steiner MPS's have also had issues, albeit it seems like there are less cases of it than the P-2, but I can be reasonably sure that they improved the product over time as well. So don't do what I did and spend hours of you life debating on it. If you have the money, get either, and go train. If the product turns out to suck, that will be apparent on it's own IF YOU TRAIN ENOUGH. My issues with the Steiner MPS: Mounting was interesting. I had to get a primary machine .150 height rmr to acro plate because I have a Shadow Systems DR920. Both the screws that mounted the plate to the gun, and the mounting screw on the steiner mps (apex clamp), for whatever reason, broke like 3 of my hex keys / torque bits / alan wrenches. No idea why. They weren't overtightened at all. Oh well. I got them mounted and havent had issues since. Other people have mentioned the mounting screw shearing (and mojo even has a cold start where him and the gang talk about their own mounting screws shearing). The manual says to tighten the mounting screw to about 13-23 inch lbs. ish. Mine is currently mounted to approximately "hand tighten + a little more" and hasn't moved. I used 242 blue loctite. Probably the biggest issue that people have been talking about with the Steiner MPS is the battery life. They boast something like 13,000 hours, but this really isn't true. Everyone agrees that it's more like anywhere from 2 weeks - 6 months, if left on at all times and probably on a pretty high brightness setting. In my opinion, it is a non-issue. The bigger issue is the rather strange battery it uses. But an optic like this is probably best suited to a "duty" gun. Which means you're probably not needing this to be on at all times, at least not literally 24/7. For me personally, it turns on only during dry fire and live fire, that's it. You are probably not conceal carrying this optic which means most other scenarios where it's not a ccw gun but you want it ready to go at any time, you will probably be better off with a carbine anyway. That's my 2 cents.

Id love to pick your brain about the Holosun 509t. What's your thoughts and experience with it? I've just jumped on the red dots on pistols bandwagon last year and picked up the 509t because I wanted a closed emitter and I love the Eotech 🍩 reticle. I've still got a LONG way to go before I feel comfortable with the dot to where I would carry it for edc

Can anyone advise. I just got my first acro for my G19 edc. I put it on a C&H plate but ive been hearing horror stories about them. Should I just get the Forward Observation plate for the Acro? I haven’t shot with it yett.

What is the timeline for the staccato/prodigy holster? Been waiting for one to drop I watched all your updates on the RDF for the first year before I pulled the trigger now its almost exclusively what I run except safariland for my prodigy because they don't have one yet.
