Thanks for the easy repair explanation. You might consider noting that the wire nuts supplied with the part are ceramic. Regular plastic wire nuts would melt and potentially short out against the range's frame.

This video is fantastic. Thank you for making such a quick repair video. I changed out my ignitor in like 30 minutes.

Thanks for the video, helped me. One thing though, when wrapping wire together twist clockwise so when you put on the wire nut it stays wrapped.

How do you know where each of the two wires behind the igniter get attached? In what order? Very nice video, by the way!

My Kenmore gas oven made a click then popped the breaker. After that it won't heat up. I changed out the igniter but the new igniter won't light either. Broiler and range top still work. Any thoughts?

I changed the igniter but still won’t ignite much less to open the gas valve. My igniter came with the end connections and I didn’t have to cut any wire nor use wire nuts. Is there anything you can think of why still won’t work. Please help. Thank you

Thank you for this video! Oven seems to be working now! It was very helpful to see the same model oven we have and this saved us time and effort.
@Tamarinera234 жыл бұрын
This is helpful, thank you! The explanation isn't specific - just "this wire", "that wire", but I'm understanding that basically we're taking the current clips/ends/plugs on the old igniter and installing them on the new igniter, just as they were on the old one. So basically "splicing" the wires with the wire nuts. From the video, there seems to be two clips on the second wires...? I'll be doing this tomorrow so I guess I will see. Also, the wire clips appear to be plastic (because they are white), but they are ceramic.
@Tamarinera234 жыл бұрын
Also, the wires on the igniter I bought are wrapped in braided silk, not plastic. I guess I'll have to melt them to stop fraying or something.

Thanks for the video but ,I was just wondering why you didn't use your wire strippers instead of the utility knife to strip the wires?

Also try twisting wires same direction as wire nut. Better connection for sure.

It's a bit worrisome that he twisted the wires together counter-clockwise then twisted the wire nuts on clockwise!

The two wires in step # 13 won't come off. Is there a trick? Also there's a substance that's like a translucent flaky stuff that we had to scrape away before we could even really see this connection.

I did everything in the video, the new ignitor is working, but it is giving off some smoke and has a burnt plastic smell, is this normal?? Really scared to use it now. Can anyone let me know if they have any suggestions. Thanks

In my oven, the screw holding down the connector cover in the corner required a square drive. In case somebody else is finding that a Phillips head is not working.
@johnhenderson17606 жыл бұрын
Once I got the screw out, I saw in the light that it was same as the previous hex head screws I had removed, so if you already had out a hex driver for those, this one was no different.

The screws holding the igniter in place are just spinning and won’t pull out. I tried applying pressure to the back of the screw with a flathead while I turned, but no dice. I’m stuck. Any ideas?

Well, we got the wires off. We were prying at the base, when really the joint between the wires and the base is about 1/4" up. Have no idea what the translucent flakey stuff is. The wires look fine. (Put the stuff in a cup of water and baking soda to see if it might be corrosion, but no reaction to baking soda.)

🤣 I think they're work gloves as he said you can't touch the igniter and when you're working with sharp and pointy things it's just a good idea.
