I absolutely hate construction sites. Nobody knows anything and then they get you into bad situations on the site. Last time on a site I refused to enter the site because of all the mud and poor road conditions.. I had them off of load me in the street.

Good to see real professional drivers still exist. So many of these guys are just out of hand anymore. It used to be a brotherhood now it's everyman for himself. Texting and swerving, tailgating, just hauling ass through construction zones. Now it seems to be the thing to put their left foot either on the dash or out the window while pushing one of these things down the road at 80,000 lbs. doing 15 mph over the speed limit. It's nuts.

Labeling gates is too simple an idea for them to grasp… and would make your job easier
@imyourhuckleberry4547
@imyourhuckleberry4547 3 жыл бұрын
Construction sites change on a weekly basis. One week a gate might be in use and the next week it may no longer be a useable entry point. Theres holes and trenches being dug all over the place to lay pipes and wiring, etc. No point in making one gate specifically for something if its likely going to change at any point in time. That's why you don't typically see gates being marked specifically for deliveries or anything else on the site unless it's a smaller gate for personel.

Oh man, that reminds me of when I used to deliver to construction sites. NO one knows anything, and when someone finally gives directions they are the WORST directions you'll receive in your entire life and when you finally find the unload spot they tell you either A. the forklift is getting serviced or is broken B. the only forklift driver this side of town has just gone for a 1 hour lunch break 🙃

Your comment reminds me of a time that I was scheduled to deliver a load of bathtubs to Tampa Fl on a friday morning. I get there and find the guy and they FORGOT to get the permits to unload off of the street. I had gotten started at 0630 for an 0800 delivery, I was back where I started at about 11. thought I was gonna be stuck there till monday but they magically got some kind of approval to get me Saturday at 8. got paid pretty well for that screw up.

So, Dan, I know it is still early, but how does it feel to drive? Does the added wheelbase make highway driving less fatiguing? Maybe after a bit, you could give your thoughts. Kind of a compare/contrast. I would think that being more or less fully self-contained now would make each workday easier. Plus the deskspace for paperwork and YT editing. I've really enjoyed your videos over the years BTW!

i see alot of guys running the spread axles in the states, any particular reason why? Up here in Canada it would be considered a quantum axle and you would be limited to 9100 kgs(20062 pounds) on the rear of the trailer, where a normal tandam axle would get 17000 kgs(37478 pounds). We just don't see the spread axles up here much, lots of tandams and triaxle trailers.
