Operated JD's for years and never had to make this change! Always wondered how the full power was maintained. One place I worked at had 1000 connections on some of the 540 equipment so the tach had 540 indicator which meant not having full power of engine. I understood some equipment was low hp rated but still on a larger tractor you could over power the equipment. Depended heavily on experienced operator which wasn't always the case and ended up with trashed equipment, usually from over speeding said equipment. Great video! Thanks for your time and sharing! 👍😎✌️🇺🇸

Excellent video Brandon :) the International 624 & 724 tractors had farm I grew you had pull Clutch handle above Clutch pedal also lock in place then make sure tractor is running have 1000 RPM and by posi trac pedal for rear end on right you had Rectangular lever had Foward notch is 540 RPM, pull back 2 notch got 1000 RPM for hand mill speed then in middle 3 notch is off on PTO speeds, 4 notch is square baler speed , 5 notch for Silo Blower to fill silos with and then press throttle up 2100 RPM top engine Revs plus Cruise lever on then unlock Clutch handle to on Foward to engine same time slowly not kill engine! ! Then done need PTO use take Cruise lever off plus have foot throttle to 1000 with right lever in middle shut PTO of in 15 seconds to stop and if hear snap using PTO pull Clutch Lever fast plus Idle and see what happened if don't blow Clutch plate and rear end out plus Gears box in PTO stalk is ! How found this happens the 624 use on Handmill grind corn cobs up for chop feed years and corn frozen up in winter season and bearing on PTO in Handmill seize up to plus had lots grease up to! Tore gears on PTO stalk drive in gear box on 624 to also had get lots new parts before continuing on took 3 weeks fix in Winter Season cold a ever! God Damn is right and piss off too! But got John Deere Handmill fix up used 724 International tractor and waited for parts for 624 International tractor come in plus work on !

Have you ever lost the bearing race off the end of the 540 shaft? Every time I change these over on my 2940 I have to fish the race out of the rear end with a magnet.

Yeah. Make it look simple that time. But like you said can be really difficult to. The joys of the older ones. Do like the newer tractors that made them dry.

Yep definitely don't want to loose your shaft or get it dirty.
