I’ll be real blunt and tell you exactly why I subbed to you channel.. first of all I enjoy your content.. but what really made my mind up was your last years 4 th of July celebration more specifically the recording of the history of the start spangled banner. I have known that history for a very long time but the message that you playing that told me that you guy are a patriotic Americans. I appreciate that. Even though we are thousands of miles apart we have something in common I expect more then just patriotism. That’s my story

My dad and I cut wood for a old farmhouse that was built in 1904. It was a beast that we retrofitted to accommodate a wood fired boiler we kept in the garage. It took 15 cord of wood a year. Unfortunately we used Hedge wood because it burned hot. It was not fun to split because none of it was straight. Love your channel and your love for family and nature. God bless

Hi Mike, I lived in the mid west most of my life (MI & MN) and loved the change of seasons and being outdoors. About a dozen years ago we move to Phoenix and while we do not get snow it is like living in an oven most of the year. It does not change, sunshine and palm trees all the time. I'd never realized how much I would miss the mid west and wish I could go back, but my wife would not consider it.

As for me, I prefer "Melissa Smile" season. It is always sunny and warm., year 'round. As for Melissa's juggling, it is magical, not a parlor trick. We see only hints of what she juggles daily. And she does it beautifully, and virtually tirelessly. To my eye, even tired she looks better than most well rested and fresh from a salon. It is her unflagging spirit which does it. God Blees You all.

After many years, I am still learning to find my proper voice socially. As an Aspie, I tnd be too direct, focused, or unsubtle in expressing myself. I enjoy the easy way your family interacts. It differs greatly from my personal experience. in my comments I try to balance the joy I find in this channel with more direct support. Aspie literalism is the raw material for my humor. Both joy and humor were much more foreign before I met the Morgans Lighter spirits can act like strong spirits if you are not used to them..

Just another suggestion but certainly not necessary, overhang the stringers with the treads about 1 and a half inches or so, on each side to help shed water away from stringers and I personally think it looks nicer. But again, just a suggestion.

Cabin is coming along great. I just got myself about 3 more cord of wood for firewood and went to get a bunch of broken pallets to rebuild to stack the firewood on and when I was hooking up the trailer, I had to lift the front end and felt one of my lower back bones crack (break). It dropped me to my knees. It is going to take a lot more than that to stop me though, I still went and got the skids and hand loaded them all on the trailer by myself. That just happened earlier today. Just getting ready to go out and unload the skids and repair them now.

Using PT wood, be sure to “coat” the cut ends of the lumber, otherwise it’s not pressure treated. Great work. Mike
@henryrodgers34095 жыл бұрын
I already have commented twice about using end cut preservative on the cuts . Mike is not interested in taking good advice from his community of subscribers . You are correct . Why even bother using PT wood if you're not going to coat the cuts .
@squambaker5 жыл бұрын
Not needed I have PT projects over 3 decades old never coated the ends still solid as ever.
@henryrodgers34095 жыл бұрын
You're lucky just about every builder puts that stuff on . Not my build so I don't really care . If you don't need it than why bother to use pressure treated wood to begin with . Your project proves it . Just use regular lumber . Everyone can stop using pressure lumber . Not needed .
@StreetRocketJoe5 жыл бұрын
Henry Rodgers this must be were the dicks hang out huh? The Morgan's are awesome people and I have personally spoken to them on a few occasions. They listen to their community, if the advice is good. I have multiple projects using PT and have never had cut ends casus a problem with premature failure. Pressure treated means the chemical is impregnated into the woods and the pressure treating processes is not meant to stop or prevent rotting. It's meant to deter bugs from damaging the wood if you're trying ti prevent moisture damage it needs to be painted or stained. Go find somewhere else to troll.

Mike, I have thought long and hard about an RK 24 Tractor, but it seems the closest dealer is 111 miles from me (222) round trip (out of state) not very appealing to me. (REPAIRS)?? To far if something was to happen? I live in West Tennessee, maybe sometime our Rural King (in Martin, Tn) will start stocking the tractors, perhaps? I'm only 35 miles to our local Rural King. I never have understood why they are not here. We are in the biggest row crop country around. Was just wondering if you have an answer for me? I will be 67 this year It looks like it is just a dream to own one. Yes, I will keep on climbing on my 1962 Ford 861Tractor. Just kind of wanted a bucket getting too old to lift. Lol

Clearly you are thinking thru the process of building the stairs and I note the attention to accuracy with everything square and true. My only suggestion is to use construction glue, besides screws, in critical areas such as where the wood is in direct contact with the ground and anywhere water and ice might build up during the winter, thaw and freeze again thus weakening the screwed joints. Overall very nicely done!

8:49 notice the growth rings in the pressure treated yellow pine. You can see that the trees they came from were from a controlled forest with optimum growing conditions. Compare those rings to your “wild” trees which are much tighter. I have some pressure treated wood that was stored 30 some years ago and the growth rings are 1/3 the size of the new wood. The old wood is much stronger because of that. Keep that in mind when using the new wood. Congrats to you becoming new grandparents😎. 🦀

I recently subscribed after coming across your pond siphon video. On your steps are you intending the steps to overhang the risers by and inch or so or do you want them flush? Based on the steps you put on for the move it looks like the steps will be flush with the face of the risers. If you want the overlap don't you have to make a similar adjustment at the top of the stringers like you did at the bottom except vertical instead of horizontal? I'm not a pro either but I've also noticed on some stair stringers videos that I have viewed lately the pros install the risers first. I don't recall from your prior video whether you intended the rise to match the dimensions of the boards you are using or whether you are ripping them tot he applicable width for the rise. Thanks for posting your work!
