Ay up, thanks for the video. Can I ask what miles/kwh you were averaging during your trip?
@DIYJourney1Ай бұрын
Ay up 😃 Certainly can, it works out to be 3.45mi/kw for the full 1145 miles. To which I’m very happy with, considering it’s a 2.2t car, over 500miles at +75mph, the running around locally inclusive of elevations.

@@DIYJourney1 That's not to shabby at all. I'd be well happy with that.

Great video; I'm getting an iX3 in January so this is reassuring. Two years ago we did 805 miles (Surrey to Szczecin in Poland) with three charging stops in a Skoda Enyaq 80.

Good vid, thanks. Seems reasonably efficient and does more than enough miles for the sort of driving we do. Weighing up iX3 vs iX vs maybe something else. How is room in the back for a rear facing baby seat behind the driver? Wife has a Mazda CX-5 currently and I can't get my seat far enough back to be comfortable with a baby seat behind me.. Would be wife's car and she'd prefer the iX3 over iX as smaller and easier for parking etc Hopefully get down the dealership soon to test it out but always good to hear from real owners.

Thankyou, this is my second iX3, they are lovely cars. We have our car seat behind the passenger seat because of the room for my driving position. I’m pretty sure a rear facing would be fine, but a forward facing would likely start getting tight. I struggle to get in the passenger seat with it in my wifes position that gives our little boy reasonable leg room. Saying that its a very first world issue as their is ample space 🤣. Off topic slightly, iv done nearer 70k miles over the last 2 years in my ix3’s and they are really good cars for transitioning in to the world of electric.

Nice one, I really want one of these but have been holding back due to perceived low range, but I can live with that and faster charging when needed over my 290 range but slow changing EV I have now. We do north west England to the Alps and back each year so 600 mile per day is no hassle with 3 or 4 quick charges when we stop anyway.

Really glad to hear this video has been useful to share my experience. Exactly what I was aiming for. It was a really easy trip.

Good trip. We collect our iX3 on Thursday and this helps massively with planning for our trips. Gutsy move 👍on the final leg. How are you enjoying the iX3?

Iv had 2x now, one company, one my own, have done circa 60k miles in them and no complaints at all, a fantastic all rounder. Previous one I was doing lots of public charging and 250+mile Journeys, and wished it had maybe 50mile more range, but thats changed now and Im mainly down to 150mile per day and only home charging and is perfect.

Interesting video thanks. EV driving is not rocket science, but as I think you present well, they do need a little thouught and planning on road trips. You didn't mention the option of charging from Tesla's superchargers. Some are now available to any make of car. There were some on your route home, including at Cambridge! They are typically much cheaper than other charging networks - I am sure you know. I have paid 26p per kWh at best and 46p per kWh at worst on Tesla.

Thankyou, yes I am aware of that, but fair comment to mention for others. For me, I like the ease of Ionity, tesla ones in particular the ones at Eurotunnel and Nurburgring are on the wrong side for my car, so in essence id take two spaces up. Very good chargers though, I just like Ionity for cost and reliability.

Is your charger 3 phase or single. Great vid by the way
