If you look closely on the legs of the elephant in Sri Lanka you can see chains. They also have long wooden sticks. That means that the elephant was beaten while being “trained”, elephants are often beaten and traumatized to perform silly tricks. Many of these elephants are being rescued and if the damage is undone they release them back to the wild

Actually… Raja used to be a logging elephant. When the logging ended, he retired, and greatly enjoyed swimming! He died back in 2016, as a very old boi. He was not abused. Many elephants have steel tethers, simply due to how big they are. Nylon or hemp just snaps, or gets eaten. Steel does not. Raja had a good life after logging

I love elephants. I love my dog but when he was a puppy and he shit in the house, he would get swatted. Now he doesn't do it anymore! To train any animal, there has to be reward and discipline. Otherwise it's just a wild animal. If you release a trained elephant into the wild, it wouldn't know how to survive. They also could be hunted for their ivory. Just for fun....even a wild child needs discipline!!!
