Your butt dyno was absolutely correct. And you got the numbers to prove it. Five seconds is quite a lot of tuning improvement. Happy testing of the Tuareg, Günter/Nürnberg
@PatchedBandit7 ай бұрын
True. I was 1 second off with my 12 second quess. It was even faster at 11. Between 6 and 10 thousand rpm the bike is absolutely transformed. Before the updates the bike was out of puff after 6K and now it feels like it only starts pulling harder after 6K. Worth it :)

Swapping the rear 40T sprocket to a 42T was one of the best mods I have made to my bike. You don’t lose any of your top end speed for the HWY and you gain significantly amount of low end torque. Even with the ECU upgrade I was struggling to get the front wheel up without using a handful of clutch, but now it is effortless. Additionally, I was able to keep the stock chain. Upgrading the axle blocks does help when doing this, as it makes it easier to adjust the chain.
@PatchedBandit8 ай бұрын
Totally agree. The sixth gear is so long there is probably no notcieable penalty on normal highway riding. I might even go bigger but I will do that when I change the chain and both sprockets too. Will go with X ring and probably full aluminium rear sporocket or partly aluminium to alleviate rotational mass.
@JamesPiccone8 ай бұрын
You're struggling to get the front wheel up because the rear suspension is under sprung with too quick of rebound. 👍

By 2 tooths is not a lot and most of us don't ride these on highways. Gearing a bike is very personal to each individual rider. You can't say one sucks more than the other setup as riders and use cases are different.

It's a big change for sure. From just riding the bike I was thinking it has to be seconds but 5-6 is VERY big.

Yes, being able to operate the bike on the local roads is paramount to a good dual sport bike. I've looked at many bikes in the search for what I'd like & some of your upgrades/tests that prove them are guiding me in my purchase. I've got another man who did a 14 / 40 gear sprocket setup that made 6th gear taller but she still had the down low grunt on trails he wanted. It's such a personal thing for each person in determining what the want/need in a bike. INTENT ! Thanks for helping me know.
@PatchedBandit5 ай бұрын
For me the stock gearing is pretty good both off and on road. I would definitely not go any 'taller' on the gearing as sixth gear is super on highways. If anything I would go to slightly shorter gearing to improve acceleration.
@diggy-d8w5 ай бұрын
Yeah, I'd tend to agree w/ you, I had seen another who did this & I appreciate what you've said. If I can go my local speed limits w/o changing the sprockets, I will do this. I have not bought my bike yet & am only looking forward now so I'll know what to look for when I begin riding it. Vid's like you have will help me to know more about what to expect.... that's valuable. I do appreciate & I really loved the Fork Experts you found. I wish they were in the US! I'll find one. peace

In your last video about installing a new ECU, you showed the result from the dyno. Factory 23 horsepower vs. 27 horsepower after tuning. I understand that you can feel the difference, but I am surprised because I bought my CRF300L at the beginning of May in Polish distribution and the manufacturer states 27.3 horsepower as the factory data. Was your CRF throttled by the manufacturer or was this just the result? Or maybe in your case it's the result "on the wheel" and in the manufacturer's case it's on the crankshaft?
@PatchedBandit7 ай бұрын
Yes the dyno is wheel HP so that's the reason. The dyno chart is from 550 Performance so that is not my test chart but theirs. They have charts for all the different levels of tune for this bike. This acceleration test is pretty telling too though 😊
@4ShadowWalkers8 ай бұрын
That’s impressive results, I was thinking it would maybe be 1 or 2 seconds quicker but almost 5 wow! Excellent job and great real world data to back it up. I guess you have to make noise to make power. Probably my mods for next winter. 👍

The bike is very affected in the upper rpm range which affects this testing the most. Stock bike feels like it's out of breath after 7K 🙂 I would pay more to get the Arrow or Yoshi now. The Dominator is too loud for me.

Riding style is most likely going to affect your service intervals much more than the actual performance mods I have done. If you ride the stock bike hard on enduro tracks it's going to need more servicing no matter the modifications. I change my oils and oil filter at least every 5000km on all my bikes.

Thanks for sharing! some doubts, Where is your 6th gear? and whats the top speed at 6th with the mod?
@PatchedBandit8 ай бұрын
6th is more an overdrive gear and doesn't do any good to use it in this 120 test. Top speed I have never tested on the stock or the tuned bike just because I'm running a very aggressive knobby and the bike feels crazy at high speeds. 120 I can do ok but I'm not interested in breaking the speedlimits or tearing up those tires on a video. So have no doubt. The bike is faster and the test method is the same as the one I did when the bike was stock.

Have not tested the top. I have soft racing knobbies on the bike. 95 oct European tune. EU ratings are 95/98, which are equivalent to US ratings of 91/93. So, EU 95 octane = US 91 octane and EU 98 octane = US 93 octane. I run the bike with 98 though.
