A little disturbing how easily a lock can be defeated by this Ramset, I guess it’s a true skeleton key. Have you tried this against a door lock, like a deadbolt? In No Country for Old Men I remember the guy knocking out a deadbolt tumbler with that cow killer thing.

I think a top down attack on the locking mechanism should also provide enough shearing force to defeat the weakened shacke, also thought of attaching the pins on the chain, as those can just fly open bc of heavy use, has hapened to me a few times with bike chains, the other way I see this lock failing is by attacking the hinge on top of the shackle, really the thing most bike locks and motorcycle lock fail to provide is security agains specialized attacks, as you have demonstrated the attacks ussually exploit 1 or 2 key weakneses on the locks, It'd be interesting to see how a locl that adresses these issues would fare, maybe combining a heavy Boron Alloy chain with a padlock like the Titan would be enough to defeat most attacks, theough it could still be succeptible to a simple lockpicking attack, for that I've no idea how to solve that, bc most keyway protection methods aren't really that effective, maybe a 6 wing keyway in wich all the pins have to be set at the same time with verious lockpicking trap pins and anti drill attack pins should suffice, but at that point you're overengineering so much I don't have a clear idea as to how it would even be possible.

Seems like the Ramset is a sure-fire way into ANY lock, simply because they can't be built tough enough - you'll ALWAYS have a weakpoint to attack somewhere, and if it doesn't yield to the low-power cartridges a high-power one is always an option.
@jeffwolf80187 жыл бұрын
You didn't even go to nail into that thing did you that's pretty impressive I imagine what a red or yellow round would do to that thing and I believe the reds are the strongest ones I've been disabled and out of the construction business for some time now but I used to use those guns at it relatively normal basis for repair work on bottom plates of a house destroyed by dry rot or termite which was a pretty big ordeal and generally we will result in damage to the drywall or plaster on the inside the house when you're doing the work so you will have Wall repairs due to all the pounding and raising of the structure above the bottom Sill

Ramset Vs the forever lock V.2 And can you talk about using a hydraulic rebar cutter to attack a lock and is there a way to protect your lock from the hydraulic rebar cutter.
@lockpickinglawyer7 жыл бұрын
+habib g Send me the lock, and I'll give it a try. As for the rebar cutter... quality shackles and chains in excess of 12mm can often resist them because the chains/shackles are harder than the jaws. Thus, the jaws usually break and the shackles do not. 👍
@mikaluostarinen48587 жыл бұрын
habib g If you can put some steel tube or hydraulic hose to cover the shackle, it can be difficult to get cutter jaws into right position. Even though some hose couldn't withstand the power of cutter, it just isn't possible to open the jaws very wide in most cases.

That doesn’t mean it’s a thieves best friend though(as many have suggested)...they are pretty loud and that’s a huge problem for someone trying not to be seen or heard. So I guess they’re ok for the blatant smash and grab guys, but other than that, all the locks we’ve seen it beat, can also be beaten with many other simple, quieter methods LPL has shown.

Nice use for the Ramset nailer but I am a bit worried that the piston when fired actually protrudes out past the nose piece. I personally use a Hilti DX series nailer and instructions and experience say the front of the piston must remain within the nailer. I don't think this would pass OSHA regulations for use on a construction site but as an emergency lockout tool it should work great. Anyone want to try it on an MB door lock? Not to practical for any one to try and steal a bike, these tools make too much noise.
