To be honest , I do not find anything in common between Alexander and Carrie, and I was surprised he pursued her given the ignorance she showed off the bat ( that phone scene alone , I had second hand embarrassment of how Carrie behaved because some one with an accent called her, how condescending ) He is a sensitive, smart, cultured, creative and a man of few words and is brutally honest , these are qualities that you appreciate in a man as you grow older. Carrie on the other hand is materialistic, shallow and cynical and does not know what romance and proper courting is if it hits her in the face. It is sad how the show portrayed his character in later episodes to prepare for Big’s return into Carrie’s life. But true, the man who matches her ( in all her imperfections) is Big, not Alexander ( nor Aidan for that matter). These two “deserve” each other.

I remember watching White Nights when I was very young. I was very impressed with the dance routine he did with Gregory Hines. European men have a seriousness and confidence often lacking in American men, as well as a worldly sophistication. A certain type of woman finds these qualities very attractive especially when balanced out with a good sense of human and dry wit that is, on occasion, self-deprecating.

@@amandacosta1566 I told him I could not come to Poland. We stoped talking for a while but he has been texting me and staying in touch. He knows I will never go to Poland. It’s ironic that I’m an artist and he not. So that makes me like the Russian and the Polish man is Carrie.

It's seems pretty autobiographical. MB was indeed a regular at 54 back in the 70s.

Their relationship was her acting like a giggly 15 year old and him not understanding her jokes. There was nothing she could bring to the table. Honestly. I don't want to be harsh on a woman but i mean common he was so out of her league

Why do I get the feeling that he trots this schtick out for every woman. Not because it's good; because it's easy. It's all surface and gives nothing real away about him. He's like the teacher who sees a young student and expects them to be impressed with his worldly way. Big ickk..he's a hack and a user.

Да она даже не пытается правильно произнести. Если от кого и идут красные звоночки, то от нее. Это как если (развернем ситуацию) вам американец говорит: I'm George, а вы ему: Георгий? Гоша?

It’s kind of a Russian joke to say “Congratulations” (Поздравляю) in that type of context. Sort of like “good for you” in a mildly ironic way.

I watched almost all of one episode of Sex and Manhattan one day---(it was when these women went to Saudi Arabia on vacay and got twisted around on Burkas and culture mishaps). For some reason silly women in Manhattan looking for romps and good times with helium high voices never interested me. Didn't know Baryshnikov starred in some of these shows. ?? Pop culture is always amazing in surprises.

SJP seems totally wooden here, while MB is much more relaxed in the role. Maybe SJP was intimidated by MB, or there was no screen chemistry between them, or maybe she is just a weaker actor. Whichever, it is not nice to watch...

Red flags in these scenes that proved right since he slapped her. Making her meet up at 1am making her take a nap. Forcing her to say his name with an accent
@Netbula
@Netbula 3 жыл бұрын
To be fair, the way Carrie pronounced his name was with an accent too, an American accent 🤷🏻‍♀️ and the nap she mentioned is a 'disco nap' which was something people did in the 70's, she didn't took a nap literally, it was to make him talk about the long disco parties back in the day
