Made this and it is SO good…and addictive!!! Doesn’t look like we are going to make it to our family Christmas in Wisconsin (from Iowa) because of the blizzard, so we’ll have lots of Sweet Texas Trash to munch on while we watch movies and try to stay warm. Gay, I commented on the other Chex Mix video that hubby has never liked it but I think he'd like this since it is basically caramel corn without the pop corn. (And he can go through a batch of caramel corn really fast!) Pecans come dear here up North so I'll probably substitute some peanuts instead. Since we've both been sick I'll just use what I've got in the pantry, we've got the Chex Mix but maybe I'll have to swap in some pop corn for the Crispix. Plus, that will help keep this gluten free so if we get to see the grandkids for Christmas they can enjoy some too. Thank you for keeping me company as I work on the last of my Christmas sewing, Gay.

I made a big batch of the regular Chex Party mix not long ago. I add Bugles & Gardetta garlic rye crisps to all the regular ingredients. I've never made the sweet mix; it sure sounds good. I have that dreaded sweet tooth; like my Daddy. 😋😁🍬🍫

How do you use the preserves and marmalade?

@@ApronstringsGayJordan they are put in with the wet ingredients, and the nuts and chopped cherries are coated with flour and put in last! My mother got this recipe from her older sister, she had been making these cookies since she married, it was her mother-in - law’s! They are really my favorite Christmas cookie since I was a little girl and I’m 73 yrs. old M not a fan of regular fruitcake at all! And everyone wants to send fruit cakes for Christmas here in Texas it seems! These are my go to cookies, great with coffee or milk! My mother and my aunt always had these cookies tucked away in the freezer so we could enjoy them all year long! They would pull out a coffee can full of these sometimes for us!

If I make this will need to reduce down as would be have to give most away not allowed that much sweets. Have made about 6 batches of candied almonds for our bible study group as gifts if had found this first would of made this first.😂❤Like wooden spoons too as it keeps things from boiling over if you lay across the pan. I already bought stuff to make this so I will be making it soon..I was going to make the spicy yesterday and I told the neighbors kid they could help me make Christmas goodies.. Well that plan was shot out the window when I got sick Sunday night around 11pm with the flu.. Had to call my son Monday to come and get Carter my grandson around 9:30am.. After that I went straight to bed.. Neighbors kid probably wondered what happen to me..I just pray she didn't think I was ignoring her because I wasn't.. Still don't feel well.. God bless always.

Oven is on 225.....The boxes of cereal are the smaller regular ones. 12 oz boxes. sometimes at Christmas they have larger boxes ...I just kinda eyeball it! You have a merry Christmas!!!

Kind of like making caramel popcorn but using cereal instead. I have a recipe for a smaller version someone gave me a few years ago but never got around to making it, it does call for a little baking soda after you take the wet mixture off heat, more like when you do caramel popcorn. Hope that storm is missing you. You going to keep subbing at the school, once they get you they won't let you go.
