I have a 5900X BNIB and thinking about selling it to get a 10900K since they're going for $409-429 USD right now. I have to re-do a bunch of research since I planned on AMD, but more performance for less money is too enticing, especially because I'm building a VR flight sim rig that will be heavily dependent on consistent high framerates to not screw up the VR experience, especially because my VR headset, the HP Reverb G2, is 2160x2160 res. Learned so much from your youtube vids man, I'm gunna like and comment on them all to help out with the 'algo', glad to be here sub-5k because with your knowledge and production quality you are on the cusp of blowing the fuck up. Oh man Taichi is so finicky to work with. The worst part is that if you mess up on memory or fclk clock it will fail to post and just gets stuck. So you pretty much constantly in a loop of tweak-> fail post->turn off power->clear cmos-> restart->load profile->tweak again. Also on my 5800x fclk on that motherboard won’t go to 1900. Even if I leave ram to default (non xmp) and mess around with voltages. Also in case your windows install fails on detecting devices and shuts off, turn off WiFi on the motherboard and check USB ports. Latest bios should have fixed usb issues so I would suggest to update it asap. Took me a while to get it all tweaked. GL HF.

hey new subscriber here but why don't you pull the windows to the for different corners or hover over the min/max icon in the windows and it will show options to auto place your windows and they will snap together and not over lay and you would not have to move your windows ever because also hotkey the "show all Windows" button and you can just click which stuff you want to show on top.

For all the nerds out there G skill has DDR4-3600 RAM kit features low latency timings up to 14-14-14-34, while the DDR4-4000 has 14-15-15-35 with the trident Z royal elite series. You cant find Ram better than this unless you take some ADT ram and overclock it yourself. I went from 3200mhz cl 14 14 14 35 gskill flareX to 3600 14 14 14 34 and it bumped up my 3dmark score by 400 plus points and almost 15 fps better. He is right there is gaming stability and windows stability. if fact I bought 4400mhz gskill and higher cl like 17 17 17 45 or something like that. One it took it forever to configure correctly nd then the performance was waaay worse. even though faster sorta.

I have a RTX 3080 and 5900X, 4X8 vegence 3600mhz ram, when i set ram to 3600mhz, dram is 1.35 which makes my system wont even boot. took me a good 2 days to figure out its the dram voltage issue. after i changed the dram to 1.4 then everything is fine, i just want to know if i can go higher than 1.4, see you have set to 1.475 makes me wondering, lol i end goal is just to be stable in games, so far havent had any crashes, but part of me just so afraid....if i set dram higher than 1.4, will it make my system more stable?

You can go to 1.5 on Samsung b die for daily. Now if it’s different chip you might want to keep it at 1.4. Edit: some of the other chips really don’t like going over 1.4 and don’t scale that well past said voltage. I would suggest getting Thaiphoon burner and check what kind of chips you have or look it up in bios if it’s supports it.

@@MG-Alexandrovich i used aida64 to run a few stress test to see if system is stable, failed the stress test after a few mins, then i run the single cpu or ram run passed but i failed at the cache stress test, cache is making me failing the stress test, also tried cinebench mark and 3dmark, the benchmark didnt have any crash issue, do you have any idea where i can go from here? my cpu is going 4.9+mhz in these benchmarks, maybe its the cpu voltage?

What were your voltages for 1900 infinity fabric using the Asrock x570 Taichi? I’m getting really frustrated and starting to think my chip just can’t get high fclk. I am sooo close to getting both 1900 and 1866 stable, but I sporadically get a single WHEA error in OCCT while running kombuster (do this to make sure I have gpu load heat). I’m about to give up and move down to a lower IF, but figured I’d check with you on your taichi settings first.

@@ronnzi You can probably minimise things slightly (especially your VDDG IOD), but essentially if you try setting your SOC Voltage to 1.2v, VDDP to 950, your VDDG CCD to 1000 & your VDDG IOD to 1150, and you still can't get the FCLK stable, then it means your chip can't do it.

Dark Hero is daisy chain board so you want to go with 2x16gb memory sticks. Best ones to recommend are probably 3600mhz c14/15/15. At least g-skill sell these. But you know the performance difference isn't that great, i'd probably recommend save money and just get 3600c16/16/16/16. Also i'd also recommend just getting cheaper board like asus b550-f or e strix. There is just no point in those more expensive boards. My b550-f overclocks absolutely same as my x570 unify. Core clocks and the memory sticks. Zero difference. For the reference, i have silver sample 5950x and golden sample 5900x. Also you may ditch the idea of allcore oc because there are loads of posts around degrading ryzen cpus. Also pbo is kinda better than all core oc anyway. Now if there is something on the Dark Hero you really need, i mean sure i guess, it's not bad. Just unnecessary.

@@jaybee0507 Thanks boss for taking the time to giving me solid advice! I am currently trying to decide whether I go with the Ryzen 5900x or 5950x since I have both here still sealed.. I will be doing mostly easy stuff like Web Development but also some photo and video editing. Doubt I will have time to play around with heavy overclocking anyway so maybe my best course of action is to just sell the still sealed/new ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero and go with something more in line with my use case.

@@tvm2209 I don't know man. It really depends on your budget and money spending habits. And the processing power of four extra cores. 5950x does have slightly better frame time performance in gaming. Meaning higher minimum frames and less stutter, smoother. But is usually very subtle and not very noticeable. It really isn't probably worth the extra cost for gaming. Also it wouldn't be the best gaming cpu anyway, since 10900k (or even 11900k) does beat it when overclocked and paired with high speed overclocked memory. I was in the same situation as you, and i did open the 5950x. But then my curiosity rose up and couple of weeks later i opened the 5900x as well. I am keeping the 5950x , strictly for gaming, even though it's only silver sample. As i said my 5900x is golden. I feel like in my experience, overclocking Ryzen 5000 doesn't net you very much performance anyway. But those four cores do something. At least on benchmark numbers, lol. Oh, yeah btw my experience is with tuned dual rank memory, 5900x at 4000cl16-15-15 and 5950x at 3733c14-14-14. Your mileage may vary if you are using slower memory.
