Great advice, "Pay attention". That is true for running any kind of equipment. Think of farmers planting or harvesting. . . . long hours and fatigue, spell disaster. Of course, John Q. Public, plans a vacation with long hours of driving and drifts over a line on a curve and you likely know the rest of the story. Thanks for sharing your day.

Dan, after years of flatbed, im now instructing new drivers at a CDL school in OKC. This last week, I said those very words of caution to my "best" student who had just crushed a cone. Its only a rubber cone here. But go ask SuperTruckerDan how much a new fender or radiator for his Pete would cost.
@frankswain94832 жыл бұрын
There's the new parts cost plus installation. Then there is the down-time. (lost income) In today's world that can be weeks. Then there is the cost of staying away from home, not in the truck, or travel to/from home. How about damage to your reputation; damage to your driving record. That means insurance costs soar. If you're company driver, you are less likely to be hired or at a reduced rate for the perceived risk they are adding. Depending on the circumstances - it might cost you your job! Again, depending on the circumstances, you might be forced out of your trucking career. Your self confidence can be in the crapper - which leads to all kinds of other issues. It's a whole lot easier & CHAPER to PAY ATTENTION AT ALL TIMES.

Pat attention is always sound advice. So many cars & trucks today have "avoidable" crashes (not accidents). Like middle lane hoggers who have no idea what's going on around them. Brain in neutral. Driving is a skill, so learn or potentially die.

First of all, it looks so weird watching the two lifts stay "stationary" as the trailer moves away. It looks as if the wheels aren't moving but the lifts are working perfect in tandem order. Next, Effingham is just about 100 miles from the old Chanute AFB where my father was stationed at from 01/01/71 thru 12/30/74. Rings of memories of the wind storms, tornadoes, , Thunderstorms, Hail Storms, Ice Storms, Concrete Storms ( Heavy Wet Snow), Horrible Humidity, High Heat and Extreme Cold coming off of Lake Michigan. Learned a ton of great things there, and loud of things that maybe I shouldn't have learned. Made trails in the corn field behind our homes that spelled out bad words, if you looked at them from the air. Loved watching the planting in the Spring and the Combines in the harvest. Loved the fireflies (we don't get them here in Utah for some reason). Even loved going to Chicago to see a Cub's Game at Wrigley before the lights were installed. Saw a Sox game at Comidky before ît came down. Went to the Museum of Science and Industry and the Field Museum. Worked in the Commissary for tips only and loved that job. Swam at the NCO pool most every day of the Summer when I want over at the Officer's Pool with other friends. Had a 5-Speed Stingray Bike and made that base my own. Would ride all over the flight line ( the base was known as a 'closed base' in that the runways were 'closed' to military and other traffic, except for aero-club aircraft. When we cross certain parts of the runways because of walkways we were warned to watch for low flying aircraft). So much to do for this young teen back then. So when you talk about stopping at Effingham you trend to bring back many memories. Thanks!

I have trigger finger on both ring fingers, and my arm catches occasionally from when I fractured my shoulder years ago. Last year I got my first massage in over 20 years. The next day I had full movement of my shoulder and my left ring finger, and a lot more range on my right ring finger. Now I try to go once a month. It's a lot cheaper and more enjoyable than going to a physical therapist.

Another great video Dan. Loved the music, this video was so relaxing to hear and watch. So many drivers do not pay attention they should while driving. On the phone, texting is done far to often. I don’t get it. Ya fuel mileage is such a big thing these days. Plus just my opinion but a driver driving at 72 mph tires faster and misses more of what is going on around him. @carlthor912 жыл бұрын
@@azcactusflower1 No, oil analysis is used as a basis for extending oil change intervals. I just change the oil on the severe service schedule, and have had my last 5 vehicles very rusty, but the engines used very little oil, if any. As I posted earlier oil is cheaper than engine rebuilds. If Dan does, say 5 extra oil changes, because the oil is able to provide better lubrication, cutting down on wear. The engine lasts longer, he makes more money, between rebuilds. An extra 2 grand gets you a long way down the highway, before a rebuild.

Dan, Do both trucks have the same gearing, Do the tac the same at your normal speed? You also have 5 more gears but probable don't split those low gears most of the time. When you bought the truck I remember you had the computer checked and it had averaged 6.5 MPG OVER it's entire life. Trucking with Scmidt gets around 6. With his C16 600hp set up.
