310,000 miles on it and he takes it out to the middle of no where. That shows the engineering of Toyota. Take care of them they'll take care of you. Great video.

Lots of Fords, Jeeps, & Chevy trucks/SUBs with high mileage. Look at the data for percentage of American powerplants still operating & you’ll be surprised how the Toyota stereotype is put in check. The Chevy Tahoe/Suburban V8s being among the most durable.

@@krasnaludek298 that’s funny you mention that. Look at all statistics about reliability and ease of maintenance and you will see the truth unfold. It’s okay, Toyota haters everywhere.

@@ElevatedOverland I did look at the data; there are a higher percentage of Chevy Tahoes/GMC Yukons & Ford Expeditions with > 200k miles relative to 4Runners. That’s on a per unit basis, thus adjusted for any difference in sales volume. I happen to own a Toyota, Ford, & Jeep; not saying that Toyotas are poor quality. I’m saying that plenty of American rigs are just as durable & data proves it. The myth that Japanese vehicles are superior continue because people spew opinions as if it’s gospel.

@@krasnaludek298 I think this is somewhat true. Older Fords and especially older GMs are very realiable. But I work at the claycomo plant in Kansas City and I can assure you that nowadays Ford just isn't of good quality anymore. The thing I see on the assembly line that are then shipped out, really are shockingly poor.

As you both will know, some YT channels enjoy subscription levels well beyond their channel's content value, while others are under-appreciated and deserve a much larger following. Your channel definitely falls into the latter category, and I'm thankful you continue to devote the time and effort you do. So thank you - again - for covering the practical side of truck camping full-time so well.

After owning a 2nd gen 4Runner & Jeep; I’m sticking with Jeep. I just don’t see how the 4Runner platform is tolerable by some. The Jeep Grand Cherokee outsells the 4Runner by a wide margin. The problem that many of us have with the 4Runner is that it’s underpowered (namely the horrid transmission), the seats are uncomfortable, and interior features are ancient - even the newest version. Now, add a bunch of heavy off-road gear and the underpowered issue is compounded. No thanks, but I still appreciate your content; just prefer the Gladiators & Wranglers.

Weird. 310k on original trans and engine. 2nd gens are notoriously the worst built 4Runner ever. If I based all keep opinions on the liberty, I guess I could see the same.
@krasnaludek298
@krasnaludek298 3 жыл бұрын
@@ElevatedOverland There are lots of Chevys & Fords with over 300K miles; the data supports that & it’s contrary to Japanese superiority stereotypes. My point is that the 4Runner competes directly w/ the Jeep GC & gets outsold because it fails to compete on the tangibles - that’s reality & backed by sales data; not my opinion. Then I offered my opinion as to why the 4Runner is being outsold: Terrible transmission, lacking interior features, & the worst seating in the industry (shared by its Tacoma sibling).
