@Last Earthbender well, it's not even traditional anymore with those big ass gloves they wear in muay thai now and all the moves banned. Lethwei is closer to real traditional muay thai, not as much change over time. Muay thai is a sport now, probably with a commission with the typical mix of bullshit politics. Like Dave says lethwei is more freeing.
@bj69fu5 жыл бұрын
@Last Earthbender I get it, your a muay thai guy and don't get me wrong, I am too. Training in the art and mastering it has nothing to do with gloves, points, politics, commisions etc. Lethwei is a sport that much more resembles muay thai the old way. I guess thats what I meant. I don't like the new way, it just looks too much like american kickboxing. Muay thai fighters have a hard time in lethwei rules. They are both the same art just with different rules and regulations. I love muay thai still, but now knowing there is another way that is superior is refreshing. I love buakaw, lerdsila, saenchai etc but now all I can think about is how amazing it would be to see them guys in lethwei. Imagine the destruction buakaw could do under lethwei rules with just handwraps instead of pillows. Why you don't like Dave? Because of his attitude toward muay thai now? Or because he said he could beat buakaw. I dunno, Dave is a cool guy who loves what he does

Sam Lee yeah the only thing I know is that the thai's and Burmese people used this in combat (wars)with each other. Still hard to say which was born first not much info on it from what I've seen. I like to look at it this way, lethwei and muay boran are both the same art right, the old style of muay boran died and is only a demo now while lethwei still keeps that style alive which means it's not so dead after all.
