I owe a huge debt of gratitude to my beloved father who first introduced me to Montaigne..

Usually books and lectures on philosophy and intellectual history are ultra serious, but Ms. Bakewell makes Montaigne seem like so much delightful fun and joy. She is an interesting speaker with a natural style. Want to go out and buy her biographies.
