Just stumbled across this myself . Wondering if it will fix the loss power and or lag if it isn't primed just right. U know the leave then key one for 20 seconds for 3 time back to back then start after warm she runs good , but have to do it just about everytime when you turn it off for more than 30 minutes. Lol

Hey I hit the post arrow by accident! I wanted to say something more specific on closing about the clear descriptions and very well angled and lit views of the work. And showing the actual cause of the problem in such a clean shot and clear description. One thing I do is watch a few different utubers on each process to get the whole picture. I watched another video on this problem and was left unclear in my mind on it. After watching your video I knew I didn’t need to watch any more videos on this subject or refer to any literature. You made it easy to internalize the whole picture. I hope you keep making more videos, I’ll be needing them! Oh! And I worked in a machine shop that did all the work for the San Diego Municipal bus system.

I like the brass fitting idea. I guess I over tightened my drain plug and stripped the threads even though I know most fittings with o rings don’t need to be so tight. The threads are kind of delicate from what I have heard since. Also your video is the first, I’ve seen that shows that housing replacement. I replaced my whole pump unit after I stripped the plug threads. Good video content and very well shot and produced. Thanks for your work.

Nice presentation. I like your more open minded attitude. One thing I’m moving on to is plugs ands caps for stuff like the fuel lines. With internet sources these days I bought a bunch of generic plugs and caps (cheap!) to do things like plug those fuel lines. Otherwise my only observation is I am more of a fan of doing a thorough cleaning of the area around the work. For novices it is riskier that you could get dirt in where it shouldn’t be. Everything from brushing the surrounding stuff and getting the road grit and dirt in it on the new parts on installation, to getting it on your hands/gloves or shirt sleeve cuffs and later brushing the fuel line tip and getting it in the line before reconnecting it.

The lines on these trucks are stainless steel and come apart very easy with the properly sized tool. You shouldn’t have a problem this this one. Push the tool all the way in until it stops then gently pull the line off. Some of the older fittings were delicate.

I replaced my FICM a couple years ago with a rebuilt one and the Atlas 40 tune. My truck only does this like once or twice between refills. It loses power for a couple secs, water in fuel and glow plug light kicks on and then it regains power again. I’m swinging by my brothers house this weekend to install some 6.4 style tow mirrors on my truck and then we’re going to pull apart the fuel water separator to clean it. I don’t think that is going to solve the issue. Judging by a couple forums I’ve read, I think you’re right on with replacing the injector harness. I read that an intermittent short to ground in the harness can be the cause. That’s going to be my next step.

Also seems to be more common in the 04s for some reason. Mine is a late build 04, so it was part of the changeover year

Will the old clogged up housing cause the motor to run rough?
@InTheShop2 жыл бұрын
It would depend on how clogged it was. If it was packed solid it could effect flow through it.
@brianleonard8902 жыл бұрын
@@InTheShop okay. Thank you. I had to get a new motor about 5 years ago. Besides some small oil leaks it's been running really good. I hadn't changed the fuel filters in a while and it started running rough. I drained and changed the filters a month or two ago and it cleared right up and ran great. Then about a week ago it started running rough again. I was going to take it to the mechanic but I'm gonna change the fuel filters more time just to see if that fixes the problem. Also I stripped the threads on the drain plug the last time I drained the water also lol. Always something. I got it to stay in there but it isn't tight. But it doesn't appear to be leaking at all. But my water in fuel light is always on

Because electric pumps push, not pull. Has to be low on the frame to work, and on a regular cab that's about the only place it will fit. These trucks are built so everything forward of the B pillar is the same, weather F250, F550, or Excursion.
