I recently purchased an '02 Trans Am down in Texas, it was an absolute steal but it came with it's problems. We got to work swapping in a fresh 6.0L LQ4 and here's the result, enjoy!

Had one just like it love those F Body’s. Had full bolt ons, pulleys ,throttle body, rockers, headers 3in Eldbrock exhaust which gave it a more old school sound. Had all that and still was like I’m missing something don’t want boost so just had the rear end built slapped in 4.10 gears called it a day drove it moderately hard never had transmission issues just kept breaking the mounts. Hopefully get another one but this world we live in now every car is overpriced.

Dave- not all 4th gens crack the door panels; it's caused by 2 things- the staples used inside the door panel to attach pieces & users putting stress on the door panel ( staples) to get in & out.

I picked up a 2002 in Austin with 6300 on the clock. ...for 30000 I have had 23 trans am of all years and needed one to just drive with no worries so I could quit racking miles on the Z06. Found a perfect one for a price. Should have probably gone your route, since I have my old shop back... swapped a couple out the top for LT4 and 1 Ls7 swap... scary fast! Anyways, thanks for keeping us gear heads in the loop and do what you have to do to beat Ryan next NPK...

fyi, you don't have to buy the full SLP air intake system (# 21047) but, dremel out the bottom of the air box & center of the plastic condenser divider piece. air flow increase from under the car is night/day. I installed the full SLP kit in my TA a few months ago, it breathes much better. it's a simple job too.

That looks like a clean TA. Didnt Monza just but 1 of them too ? Them trams am are nice cars but they came with a pretty weak drive train in them from the start so you know even if there was zero issues with it you wouldve been tearing it down anyways. Now you just have an excuse to. Its a shame that you did'nt get one with the 6 speed manual. I'm in the philly pa area so to find a car in that condition are here is like finding a unicorn. So I understand that this is a very SLIGHT upgrade due to the difference in displacement, but the LS1 that was in that car originally made 325 HP (or 310 without Ram Air) and 340-345 lb ft of torque, and the LQ4 makes anywhere from 300-330 HP and 360-370 lb ft of torque (maybe more with the LS1 intake). Was this just an attempt to get it running due to the price of the LS1 compared to the LQ4? Or was it an attempt to gain power? I can understand why you would rather get a LQ4 over a LS1 due to price and availability because everyone probably wants an arm and a leg for a LS1. I'm not trying to be a douche, I'm just trying to understand the reasoning behind swapping to a LQ4.
