Been watching your videos ever since I started working on my 03 6.0 Powerstroke. You've saved me lots of money by showing and explaining how to do everything! Trucks right on the line of 300,000 and I've done most of the work on her myself with your help.

Nick Theriot nice to hear. Just got a 03 a few months ago with only 115k and want to keep it until I’m dead 😅

@ do the mods to change the failure points to the fixed '06/'07 versions you will have a lot better fuel mileage and it'll last longer. Also instead of paying an arm and a leg to replace the oil cooler I used a E class van oil filter housing and welded the ports that went through to the OEM oil cooler and changed the water type oil cooler for a radiator type cooler from an old 7.3 with a dedicated fan. It's the home made way to keep this truck from having the problems with the egr not getting enough flow and cracking inside and if you're going to delete the egr system don't buy any crap online just use a freeze plug that fits tight on both ends and put it back Voila! No exhaust flow through it and no sign it's not factory. So it's not going to be a problem with emissions tests or cause your truck to start blowing exhaust through the radiator like it does from factory if it breaks.

Bill, I think my motor did something you may of never seen before! It started making a weird ticking noise so I took it to ford and they said might be the lifters, they also said I had a bad injector. So I take it home and replace the injector, I start it up.. Still had ticking noise, I gave it a good rev and CLUNCK! The engine made a terrible noise and wouldn't run.. So a couple weeks later I pull the engine to find the lifters were perfect but there was a broken rocker arm plastic clip on cyl #4, intake valves were not opening. but that's not all.. I pull the pan and find large peices of metal all over. the top of the piston rod broke on cyl #4 and the piston head and rod were disconnected, block is unharmed though. Piston must've had too much suction when I revved it with the intake valves not opening? after all their built to be pushed on but not much strength when pulled.

The factory radiator failed on my truck (04 f250 6.0) hauling a 7000+ pound trailer from Florida about an hour south of Columbia SC. Luckily it was just a small leak and not very much coolant leaked out, we were able to drive it all the way back home. I put a mishimoto radiator on it and haven't had any problems with it since. But when I bought the truck I noticed the engine had two alternators on it and to make room for one the factory intercooler pipe has a large indent on it. Are there any kits out there I can buy to replace the factory pipe with?

Hey bill, have you ever thought of putting an anode in the cooling system on these trucks? On marine diesels we do and they never last more than 12 months.

So I bit the bullet and bought the radiator, radiator hoses, and intercooler boots and hoses. Will eventually do the intercooler but don’t have the cash now. While I am replacing all these parts, should I go ahead and replace the water pump and thermostat? If so, what brand do you recommend? I have 115000 miles and head studs were put in about 10000 miles ago.

The burning question: Did the 97 F-350's come with an intercooler? My 97 7.3 does have one (F-350) but I'm not sure if it was put on or came stock. One of my friends ordered his from the factory (F-350) and it came with one stock. Mine is an early 97. My other friend has one that is a late 97 and does not have an intercooler. (F-350)

It better be good, $$2500+ for the 6.0!! They are definitely proud of em!!! As if owning a Ford wasn't expensive enough, buying one is half the cost. Mishimoto has got to work on those prices before the average working man can afford them.
@alspahi77608 жыл бұрын

I can feel you on that but mishimoto is top of the line. There is NO better than mishimoto. Period. They are HIGHLY known in the import car community. The prices are high but you get a SUPER high tech part that will last a lifetime(which is something lost nowadays).

@edm97608 жыл бұрын
why would oil be getting through the air intake? I've seen grease build up on the boots before but never knew why it was there.
@claudesmoot18808 жыл бұрын
Oil vapor comes from the PCV valve/crank case vent, and is vented into the air intake. Then pushed through the charged air system. EPA B.S.
@Liam408 жыл бұрын
Well there are multiple ways you can have oil in your air intake. The first way is through crank case gasses. Due to emission laws, your crank case cannot be vented into the atmosphere. Atomized gas, oil, and combustion gasses build up in the crank case and must be relieved. Thus they are sent into the intake to be burnt. The second way is through a turbo failure. The failure causes oil to get past your turbo seals and pump directly into the engine. In catastrophic cases, this will lead to a diesel runaway. The third way is through leaky valve guides. Basically it seeps in and is burnt. The fourth way is perhaps you have an aftermarket filter. Generally foam. Oil is poured on it to trap any dust dirt or debris. In excess, it can be sucked into the intake. The fifth (And fairly uncommon now) Is exhaust gas recirculation. Basically a small portion of your exhaust gasses are put back into the intake to lower the temperature of combustion, and take up room in the cylinder with benign gasses. If your engine burns oil you can expect it to go back into your intake. (If so equipped.) I likely missed something here, as I am certainly not a certified mechanic. But hopefully this makes sense to you!
@laserblast928 жыл бұрын
Blow by from the engine is pulled through the turbo and the rest of the system.
@Liam408 жыл бұрын
Vernon Laux I am discussing general engines. Also, the turbo is a fairly early part. If oil is pulled through the turbo, that means you have oil coating the compressor, the intercooler (And this isn't great! It can pool up or gum up the passageways.) which leads to the intake manifold, then of course onto your valves. With nothing to wash the oil away it can carbonize on the valves and intake runners. (Diesels obviously have no fuel in the intake, so the carbon is free to form.) This can cause loss of compression, or even severe engine damage. Not trying to correct you, just elaborate on your valid point.
@laserblast928 жыл бұрын
Liam 4.0 I work on the 6.0l, the crankcase vent goes directly to the intake of the turbo. There is no vacuum while boosting so that is where International designed it to be. There is build up of gummy carbonized deposits in the intake manifold and intake runners in the cylinder heads caused by the oil and egr exhaust gasses.
