Thanks for saving me a lot of money on this issue. I had the same Oil leak for years on my 2004 Escalade ESV 6.0 and it finally got bad enough to fix it. My Oil pressure had been fluctuating abnormally on and off for about 6 months and my small leak became a huge spot on my drive way. I first changed both valve cover gasket after seeing leaks and the leak went from a big spot to smaller drops and small spot. So we suspected the rear mail seal. After watching this video and seeing the Oil leaking from the top with your Crankshaft sensor having a flat O-ring I suspected my Crankshaft Sensor or Oil pressure sensor as being the culprit. I verified with a fiber optic wire camera that there was oil in the area of the two sensor. I replaced both Sensors the Crankshaft sensor failed internally and the connector was full with oil. My leak has been fixed and I didn't have to do the major job of replacing the rear main seal. Also after replacing the gasket on the valve covers I had white smoke upon start up and also saw another video that showed the fix to be the drivers side valve cover with built in PCV valve. This fix also worked for me. Thanks to the youtubers that share the knowledge. Gob Bless you and God Bless America

My 2001 transfer case fluid is blue it's called auto track 2 it's the recommended gm fluid for gm transfer cases. It is not supposed to be the same as transmission atf. The fly wheel should of been marked to get exact replacing and a centering tool should of been used on the seal cover before installing seal and some rtv at the bottom of rear cover and oil pan in each corner That's why I have to do things myself to make sure every step is done right and to get the most out of it not just good enough.

Just to add, the 07+ Escalade and Denali awd case uses the atf fluid. Awd and 4wd are different cases.

@donoevil80422 жыл бұрын
They're probably thinking about it from the standpoint of having a lift, vs. going topside. Since they're a trans repair shop, they're probably used to doing most jobs from underneath (although they had to get the socket for the oil pressure sensor, so they probably don't do too many of these jobs). Luckily, there's clearance for both sensors to be removed with the intake in place (I'd have laughed if they had to remove it for clearance).
@vernbruyere91412 ай бұрын
You guys work good together ,well oiled machine ,Great work Guys
@attributetovienna19823 жыл бұрын
So they pull your trans to do a rear main, find out its the cam sensor, so to cover their ass they pull the bolts on the rear cover and when the bolt comes out they tell you it was bad because it starts leaking oil from the hole That hole is open ended in the block so its obviously going to leak oil when you take the bolt out, then when they pull the cover they don't even check the oil bypass dogbone which is an Achilles heel on the ls engine and is 7 dollars to fix, if it goes bad you're fucked so why not do it while you're there? Secondly they reuse the flexplate bolts, which are 1 time use and are torque to yield Then tell you its easier to pull an trans than the intake, you realize its an LS right? It takes 15 minutes and an 8mm and 10mm to remove the entire thing, and the intake gasket clips on to the intake and is reusable lol. If ANY engine needed the entire trans removed just to replace a cam sensor it'd be they stupidest designed engine ever made and this definitely isn't it Classic case of getting fucked right here If anyone gets this far in my comment and wants to know how to actually avoid this bullshit you're watching, understand this. Get under the truck and look, look for the absolute highest possible spot you can find of oil leaks. If you see oil ON TOP of your transmission its definitely not the rear main, OIL DOESN'T LEAK UPHILL

So rear main seal wasn't leaking... Always check your oil pressure and cam sensor in the back of your engine before going straight to the main seal. Could also be the valve cover gaskets in the back of the engine. Contrary to them saying it is the same jobe to replace those sensors, it is not. You can reach the sensors just fine by taking off the plastic engine cover. Just did this on an 06 5.3L in about 10 minutes.

@@1-Six-deeyour oil pressure sensor is bad if it's always pegged out and it's probably the leak as well and yes these guys are correct it is a super easy job comparatively to the rear main seal from the top but that specific socket is a life saver for sure may as well do the CAM sensor while your there too and the intake gasket is reusable but if you think it's old and you can replace it as well it would be of course better the oil pressure sensor on all those LS motors is a common issue as is the o ring on the pick up tube but there is no easy fix for that the oil pan must come off but even that is not extremely terrible it's a job but if you are a half decent mechanic well let's just say there are much worse jobs for sure

The purpose of this video was to show the easiest way to take care of “all” the leaks. With your 30 years of experience you would know that if you remove the transmission to access the cam sensor or oil pressure sensor it makes since to fix all the leaks while in there. Thanks for commenting tho.
