I have clocked over 20,000 miles on my 2023 F350 Superduty with the 6.7 liter high output diesel and so far things have been pretty good with this truck. I talk MPG, DEF consumption, and my overall thoughts about this truck and how I use it.

Your assessment is worth 10 by so-called reviewers, who don't actually own a truck or tow with one! Well done! Thank you for taking time to share your story.

Thank you! Glad you found it insightful. I enjoy watching truck reviews too but I think “long term” reviews should only be done by people who own them and put real world miles on them. For this reason I am sharing my honest feedback and owner experience.

Love these trucks. I have a 2024 F350 SRW 6.7 HO Platnium Tremor that we tow a Brinkley Z3610 42’ long and 18k pounds loaded up. I am maxing out the GAWR and Payload. I added air bags that gave the truck a lot more stability. It did make the ride a bit rougher when not towing. I went with the Air Lift LoadLifter 7500XL Air Logic IQ system. I wanted to keep the overload leaf incase something happened to the air bags. In hindsight I would have gone with the ReadyAir system that does remove the overload leaf but is a far better ride when unloaded. At 70-73mph my MPG towing is 8.9 over the last 5,200miles. The Tremor has a 3.55 rear gear and empty I average 15-16. I use the Archoil with fill ups also. I love the turning radius of the F450 but no way I am going to hand wash this thing every few weeks. The single rear week will do just fine 😎. I noticed around 20k miles that the truck began to sound more like a diesel than it did in the previous 0-20k miles. It might have happened slowly, mine sounds the same as yours does. I was curious if you noticed the same thing with yours. I thought maybe it was all in my head or a break-in sound once everything kind of found its break in points. Just more of that clatter with a diesel. I also change the oil at 5k miles and use Schaeffers from all the oil testing I see out there it’s the best by a pretty good margin.

Power + Right Skip button: hold them down until screen reboots you can reset the infotainment center while driving. Annoying but it freezes sometimes. I have the same truck but in XLT long bed HO. Love it for the most part except it's picked up a few rattles from washboard roads.

No to comment bomb today but i think that fuel economy is really good. My setup is a 23 Ram 2500 crew cab 4x4 tradesman so vinyl seats rubber floor covering. 6.4 Hemi and 3.73 gears. I did remove all the plastic trim from the bumpers and took out the active grille shutters. I average about 12mpg empty and 7 ish pulling 10k pounds. That diesel is great compared to that! Lol nice review

Yea my father in law has the same truck - 2500 with the 6.4 hemi and tows about 9k travel trailer. He averages about 7-8 towing and about 12 around town mixed driving. In my opinion it’s a wash in money after factoring in resale, fuel mileage, maintenance, etc but it’s really just a different driving experience, more investment up front for the diesel for sure though.

I have a 2023 HO with the 3.31. I hand calculate every tank and DEF fill up. My truck mileage is .6 - .8 mpg off. My mileage pulling my Momentum 351M (16.7K) on a 1200 mile trip 8.9 mpg and 178 mpg DEF consumption. Normally unloaded around town I average 568 mpg of DEF so towing burns it. My 2022 would get over 800 mpg DEF.
@RollingWithRuss

That is very interesting. I wonder if the 23+ trucks are programmed for more regens for cleaner emissions?

@@RollingWithRuss The way I understand it, the HO runs hotter therefore putting out more NOx calling for the extra DEF usage. I could be completely wrong. Also I'm sure there are more stringent regulations.

I have a 24 F350 Platinum and so far avg 21.8 MPG I use Fuelly app every time I full up and it's only ever off by .4-6 Towing my 8k RV I avg 17 even in the hills of PA and NY it's been great. Now my TDI Jetta says 44 MPG but Fuelly says it's 39 lol. I have used 2.5 Gal of Def in 2500 miles not sure if that's good or not first one with the crap. ( I will hit a pothole and let that crap fall off! ) Now that Engine brake has a damn mind of its own Ram's is far better. When I turn it on I want it on.

Hope you have skid wheels near the back bumper of that Cardinal, that rear tail sits low. Nice truck and trailer. I have a 19 F450 (6 speed) and I'm amazed at the power. I pull a 47' Seismic triple axle Toy hauler. Combined, I'm right at 30k and that truck pulls it so easily. My 17 F350 SRW was amazing too. All 3 make great trucks, comes down to personal preference. I like the looks and performance of all 3 makes.

Loving the setup man. I am considering something similar with the shorter box and 3.55s to tow an off grid MDC XT17HRT Family travel trailer. The XL seems to have everything we will need and the XL Offroad Package basically gets you a Poor Man’s Tremor. Not sure if the XLT is worth the extra cash.
@RollingWithRuss
@RollingWithRuss 4 ай бұрын
That’s what my thought was. You could always swap out the wheels one day and do your own upgrades. For me, the new XLs are like a Lariat of 20 years ago and I didn’t want to spend more just to get luxuries. I am really happy with the XL personally. Sounds like you are looking at a nice rig as well.
@marcochavanne
@marcochavanne 4 ай бұрын
@@RollingWithRuss Exactly. My first truck was my grandfathers 1985 F-150 Lariat. Had cloth seats and was much more spartan than the current trim. I honestly love the steel wheels on the XL and would probably leave those on since you can repair them with a hammer if youre ever in a pinch. Alloys will just break. The mods I was considering were a winch (you can get the factory winch much cheaper online), Katskins heated and cooled seat covers, Morimoto LED projector headlights, Carli lift, and a PTO driven generator for boondocking/off grid camping with the travel trailer. It could also be used as backup power since we live in Texas and our grid is a mouse's fart away from collapse. I honestly think the XL is really a great platform and while it isnt as "turn key" as other trims, I have noticed a lot of guys remove their factory lift, grills, wheels and headlights anyways so its a waste of money in my eyes to get a more expensive model if you plan to modify it anyways.

At what weight amount would you get a 350 with the duallies?
@RollingWithRuss
@RollingWithRuss 4 ай бұрын
I suppose it’s anyone’s best guess. For me weight is just part of the consideration, it’s also how often would I drive in windy areas. Or if I hauled horses or livestock that were moving around in the trailer I would more strongly consider a dually. Right now it would only probably make a small difference, but if I DID go with a larger fifth wheel one day I would certainly upgrade to a dually.
