I always break the filter loose and drive a nail into the bottom of a filter to let them drain into my pan. Works great, definitely helps with the mess.

Use a red solo cup on the filter to grip it and catch the oil.

Good video. I use shell rotella t-4 and have had no issues. Also installed a cat oil filter

Thank you! What's the part number of the Cat filter you use?

I have a 2021 Cummins and do the oil changes every 6k with 5w-40 Amsoil. I know I might be wasting a bit of money but I hear lower oil change intervals helps with the after treatment stuff. Good video.

If you have a Caterpillar/Cashman facility where you live they have a fluid analysis lab that can test all of your oils (trans, diff, engine, pumps), antifreeze, particulates in your filters, and will provide guidance on change intervals. When you purchase sample bottles from them that is the analytical fee. Cost for engine oil is $35-$40. They also give you a hand operated suction pump to pull the sample straight from the dipstick (tubing included with each sample bottle). Turn around time where I live in NV is 48hrs. Might want to check it out if available in your area or on the road.

Thank you for the tip! I will look into that. Nice to know that there are services like that available

I wonder if a fumato drain valve would be good for your tuck sense you change oil so often.
@powerstrokemaintenance3 ай бұрын
That may be helpful! I don't mind doing the drain plug though

I’m an Amsoil fan and stuff but I cut a new Amsoil oil filter for my 6.7 Powerstroke for curiosity and it’s extremely sloppy. There’s glue everywhere. I personally use the Donaldson P502503 and it’s extremely neat and clean…. Ohh and it’s rated at 15 micron

I cut one open the other day. Not on camera. Didn't have glue everywhere and wasn't sloppy. Think you got one built on a Monday

Interesting. I will give the Donaldson filter a try on my next oil change

How many engine hours do you put on between oil changes?
@powerstrokemaintenance3 ай бұрын
I'm not sure. I usually go based on miles. I can check the engine hours next time

Is that amsoil 5w40 also sn rated? I want to run it in my wrangler after i run rotella t6 first.

I’m not sure. I do believe they have their specs on the website, you can just look it up by vehicle

next oil change, jam a screw driver up through the bottom of the filter and let that sucker drain out for 10 minutes. no mess!!!
