I am a fan of smaller lights than most of those shown here. I especially don’t like the big headed lights. I like the idea of a light that doesn’t bulge out in the pocket and also doesn’t hurt your leg if you are laying down with it in your pocket, like if you were working under a car or under a sink.

Agreed, once you get up to the 18650 lights it is holster time. the edc33 fits well in the nh10 for me. AA size lights fit well in my pocket, the MT2A pro or my weltool T1 protac are thin enough to not be a bother. My surefire tactician still sees some pocket time. it is relatively small with the 16650 battery. But, even that is pushing the comfort limits.

Why doesn't the Nitecore EDC33 offer lower modes for the floodlight? Wasted opportunity. However, it's great to finally see a single-reflector, multi-emitter light for multiple beam profiles. I've been waiting for that for many years.

Welcome back Sir 😊 Hope you had a great trip! About the EDC33: I don’t really get most of the criticism about non replaceable batteries. By the time the battery will start malfunctioning, this flashlight will be completely outdated. You’d buy a new one before any issues occur. It’s only a problem for tactical use, where you’d want a second fully charged battery as a backup. But that’s not a tactical light, it has EDC in its name.
@JonGadget10 ай бұрын
Hi Eyal, thanks 😊 I can live with it too, but for those who are not chasing new tech it could outlast the battery. For me I’d rather have the greater power for small size on offer and accept it won’t last forever.

Been EDCing an olight for a long time. I am liking some of these offers by other companies. That EDC33 is SO CLOSE! I am not huge on the non-removable battery and Id have to replace the clip with an olight, or theMH12, clip (i pocket carry and that loopback on the clip is constantly seeing use as an external hook for keys or temporary clip point). The lack of moonlight mode is rough, but not a dealbreaker. The one big thing that could pull me away from my Warrior3 is the more and more common reverse charging on the huge battery ones. I dont need to carry a powerbank, but having a flashlight with a very large cell in it that can be used for emergency power is something I have wished I had on a couple occasions. The programmable one is interesting, but at that point I would just carry something with Anduril2. It is far more complex, but once you have every minute detail configured to perfection, you never have to mess with it and the interface is about as simple as an olight. lastly...I dont know why it is a thing, but "brightness level" indicators are VERY strange to me. I know when the light is the brightness I need to use at that moment...I cant imagine needing to know if it is level2 or level3 at a glance when I can look forward and go "yup, I can see what I need to see" and if I ever have to have it at max brightness, I just cycle to it and if I pass it, just do it again. Even less important when the light has a direct-to-turbo, like it should. Maybe I am a stickler for simplicity and trimming the fat, despite my love of more and multiple functions. Great vid as always!
@JonGadget10 ай бұрын
Thanks for taking the time to comment in detail. The power light I find useful because I don't always know if I'm at full power without it dropping down to lowest and cycling through (ofter twice)! (and it doesn't have direct to turbo)

Regarding the Nitecore 'lumen shield', wouldn't a strobe mode be far more effective?
@MPD9010 ай бұрын
@Ian.. Not sure what they mean to be honest, easy to test that. Just get any torch with a strobe, point it at a tree or something and have at it. It's not disorientating at all really for the user.

@@MPD90a Strobe flashlight is basically useless. It's only good for people pretending to be soldiers based on movies and TV shows. A trash feature that takes awayfro to completely destroys usefulness of flashlights.
@MPD9010 ай бұрын
@@L0st-n0found Silly comment. How does it possibly destroy the flashlight, it's just an extra mode, you lose no functionality... Also despite your rant, the simple fact remains that a strobe is very effective at temporarily blinding someone. That's not debateable, it's a fact, stand in front of one and debate otherwise..
@L0st-n0found10 ай бұрын
D90 silly comment is promoting an most useless feature. You loose functionality is *Having to cycle through *Having to worry about accidentally turning on *missing out on another lightning option in space Some people are not disoriented at all with strobes Most strobes I these lights don't fire in specific way older incandescent lights did If it's your only light source like say a gun mounted light hoping disorient opponent you're as likely to disorient yourself and cause issues with depth perception. In order for it to be effective at any time everything would have to be just correct... You'd have to have just the right driver and flash rate and you'd have to be able to activate it immediately, reliably instinctually. Basically as I said it's absolutely useless for almost every situation and only harms use of a light
@MPD9010 ай бұрын
@@L0st-n0found In the same comment you claim it doesn't disorientate people and also that it would disorientate the user. I don't know what your hang up is, but you're obviously not being objective. Again, stand in front of a strobe and tell me what you see...

I have owned two of the Wuben L1, and compared to their other offerings it is a complete let down. The first one was defective wouldn't charge in the flashlight and wouldn't discharge has a portable power source as it was supposed to so I charge the battery outside of the flashlight. The second one works fine but on both the switches are incredibly easy to automatically turn the light on so as an EDC light it is fairly useless unless you want to go through the exercise of backing off of the tail cap when you carry it.

I just do not understand the reasoning of Nitecore using a non-replaceable 18650, when they could just as easily have used a replaceable 21700. The 18650 is obsolete. It offers no real advantages compared to the 21700 other than slightly smaller size, but that slight size increase translates into a fairly large capacity difference, with 21700 cells now at 5000 MAh and possibly higher. I would have strongly considered the EDC33 if it had a replaceable 21700, but any non-replaceable battery is a absolute deal-breaker for me. That product will be electronic waste in less than 3 years.
@JonGadget10 ай бұрын
All good points. Size is good here though and fixed battery allows for more power delivery and also large capacity which is on par with some 21700’s

I don't see the point with some lights that says like for example 1000lm but when you look at the tech sheet it's 1000lm for 1min and then like 500lm, if I need 1000lm then I need it for way longer then 1min and the only time I can see its being useful is if you are going to blind someone and how often does that happen so in my opinion it's an absolute worthless feature and just a bad sells pitch.

@@voran1324 Not even remotely the same thing not even close. just shining light or swiftly moving light side to side or turning light on and off to a specific light level swiftly or leaving light on and swiftly moving something like your hand in front all accomplishes this. Predator lights are basically designed to mimic the light reflecting from the eyes of another predator to scare away for fear of maybe getting injured or killed by the unknown. These flash usually about 1x per second or more. A flashlight nonsensical strobe flashes from several times a second to dozens of times a second. They (flashlight strobes) are mimicking incandescent bulbs that are much, much less bright and much less of a shock to eyes than Xenon and now hundreds or thousands of times less a shock than LED. An incandescent flashing several times a second and sometimes in erratic patterns was thought to incapacitate an enemy more than the very, very, very dim by today's standard constant on incandescent. Again there is literally NO reason for these to be in flashlights Very limited specific uses for one or two flashlights to exist with a Strobe is one thing but baked into almost every light is catering to grown up children playing at things they don't understand and will never ever be involved in or use.

@RH-nc8uu There is a video on KZbin of a guy using Sofirn FC12 to control a crowd of stray dogs. Evidently, from that video, strob works wonders. Also, I'm not sure what flashlights you're talking about, but all Sofirn and wurkkous flashlights produce strob at full lumens. TD01 produces strobe at 2,000 lumens and full 270,000 candela. That's more than enough to scare of a bear, never mind cayotes. 😅
