American tongues are commonly placed further back in the mouth when pronouncing sounds, whereas other foreign languages like Arabic, the tongue is relaxed and sounds are formed closer to the front and just behind the ridge. This is not in our heads 🙂

In Spanish we say, "Mi vida" which means my life. We also say my heart, "Mi corazón" . "Eres la luz de mis ojos" , which means you are light of my eyes is also very popular. I think Spanish and Arabic have a lot of similarities. They are both very poetic and descriptive languages.

Maltese is a semitic language. It's influenced by or rather comprised of Italian and sicilian (more than 50%), Arabic (about 30% - 40%) , and English. So you have a rich language! They say if you listen to a Maghrebi (Arab north Africa) like a Tunisian, there is a good chance you'd understand 20 or 30% of it! Try to find a Tunisian video on youtube and listen to it to find out.
