6 brand new cars on fire

I was driving behind this truck when the fire started but when i stopped the driver it was too late to extinguish the flame. It happened near Castleisland, Co.Kerry, Ireland.

People, listen up, please read all the comments before commenting on what dozens of others have already commented on. 1. The driver did not see the fire at first and when he was stopped by someone else it was too well developed to detach the trailer. 2. It is not an Articulated truck. It is a rigid truck with a trailer which takes some time to detatch. 3. The location of this fire is in rural Ireland and is fairly remote, so the Fire Service covering the area are probably Retained Crews (Volunteers) and may have some distance to travel after being called from Work/Home

It takes about the same amount of time as an artic, all of about 30 seconds if ya in a rush, in this situation just pull the pin and drive away, sod the air lines they will break

You need about 10 minutes to disconnect the trailer for this system. An you need some tools for it. And you had to go under the truck.

I'm telling ya, it would be a great idea if trailer manufacturers added sensors to detect when the brakes are dragging. When you're driving a truck, it can be difficult to tell that the brakes are dragging because of how powerful the truck's engine is.

Please read the description. It says it took some time for the driver to be alerted to the fire and when he stopped it was too late to disconnect.

Yes, I've seen this 3 times in my 2.1 million miles around North America - latest was in October in Western Kansas with a piggyback of 3 brand new semi tractors burning with 2 miles of roadside grass fires behind it!

It is a misconception as to how effective a Dry Powder extinguisher is. It is for use mainly on electrical fires and small fuel fires. This already involved the tyres on the trailer, There are no cooling properties in a DP so it was a lost cause

People are saying where is the Fire Brigade. Well the video is under 7 minutes long, so if the location is maybe 10/15 miles or more away from the Fire Station, of course it’s going to take longer especially with the cut backs to the emergency services. IF the trailer is detachable the trailer should have been uncoupled when it was safer at the start of the fire. The drivers driving past are total idiots.

That would be a part-time station called out to that fire, so the crew have to get to the station from home or work, no sliding down poles and out the door. Unless the fire station were very close it would be surprising if they got there in that time, plus WHEN was the fire brigade called? The trailer should have been unhitched of course. Stupid driver.

Weapons and steel 🤔 Most modern cars now are plastic. Fire on the wires would be the rubber coating burning, front of the car is plastic so would give of intense flame. Been trucking for 20yrs and never used tools to take trailer off. Pull the king pin and drive away, air lines would break off

@Glenn Lockett its still very similar. Still got landing legs,still got air lines/electrics. The king pin is normally air driven either on back of the wagon or inside the cab. Pull lever and pin goes up or down. In this instance to save the truck and other load I'd just lift the pin and drive out. Those trailers aren't designed to be removed on the fly, they take a decent set of tools and some time to unhitch. And idk about you but I wouldn't want to crawl under a burning trailer

Had to have been a break problem bet he didn't release them properly on the back trailer and wat a thick as fuck driver hes now put people houses and other vehicles at risk now should of quickly driven to an isolated area while it was still a small fire and dropped the trailer off out the way but no let's just stop right here where it will catch everything else on fire yeah well done
