I'm from Shanghai, China. For personal reasons, my daughter went to school in Austria since childhood, but she is still of China nationality. Sometimes when chatting with her, she said China was horrible, so I asked her who told her this. She said classmates and teachers, and I asked her, have they been to China? She replied that none of them had been to China. My God, the brainwashing propaganda was so horrible that it almost turned my daughter, a China native, into a person who was afraid of her own country.

Maybe in the summer, you can visit Tibet and Xinjiang for tourism (because it's too cold in winter, probably around minus 20 degrees Celsius, not suitable for tourism). Although foreigners need to go through some additional procedures to visit these two places, it's not actually difficult if you have a guide like Jim, and it can also dispel some rumors like "they will disappear and they will never reach the inland provinces", as there are actually foreigners traveling to Xinjiang and Tibet and sharing videos on KZbin, but the haters never see them.

I have met a young couple in Thailand recently. They were from US and they were traveling from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and then to Cambodia and Vietnam and before going back to US. We have happened to have a casual friendly conversation and I have asked them since they are so near to China, why not go to China just for a few days to see China. I told them China is very interesting, But I was surprised of what they told me. They said according to all their media reports in US and advice by their government and many people. They were advice and told not to travel to China. Even their parents don't allow them to go to China. They were told China is not a safe country to travel. Very dirty, poor rundown infrastructures, poor transportation system, polluted, homeless people are everywhere waiting to rob tourists are common even in broad daylight. Chances of been detained for no reason by the Communist is very high. Because China is an authoritarian state and all foreign visitors are monitored by thousands of cameras everywhere, every minute where foreign visitors go. Foreign visitors from western countries can be detained for months or even years for no reason. Then I asked them about many KZbins videos showing many interesting things about China. Don't they ever watch those video? The answer from them is their media and government said those KZbins video showing positive about China are all lied and paid by Chinese government to create them. All these is what they know about China. The couple is like below 25 years of age and already so badly brainwashed by their government and controlled media. This is really sad.

The Americans also have to use their commonsense right despite whatever brainwashing the US govt and the media have done. If a country had 2x digit growth for more than a decade, how poor can it still be after all that economic growth? Also there's tons of internet vlog done by international tourists incl Americans who have visited various parts of China, surely they can easily access? Then there's every increasing tons of middle income Chinese tourists who've visited the US and Europe, surely they'd have seen them? If the whole of China is still poor, then how can these people be travelling abroad and spending? Let just put it this way. If an individual wants to just bury his head in the sand like an ostrich, there's nothing one can do to make it lift his head up and open his eyes.

I stayed up till 2am last night to watch your video and it is very interesting. Ali is right, I also found the experience of the tallest tower not as good as the Oriental Pearl Tower, which is a bit expensive and has a worse view. BTW, if you come to China next time, I would recommend you to visit Kanas in Xinjiang (the natural scenery is very beautiful) or Guangzhou to experience the authentic Cantonese cuisine.

When I visited Beijing back in 2018 this is what I intended to do but I had iPhone 6 Plus and it didn’t have enough memory. It’s a once in a lifetime trip and thanks for packing us with you!! Loved it .. I was @ the airport in Shanghai flown in from California .. 15 hrs 30 mins. … the airport was insane we missed our flight had to take a taxi across the city to lesser known airport .. felt like as far as the eye could see was urban sprawl
