You will need the V4+ frame, a 3 inch D-BOX actuator and a six point racing harness at least. Ref. jcl-simracing.com/en/525-black-aluminum-frame-v4.html. I wish you success!

I was going to do a diy frame and actuator but just wanted to know the bearing number on it because I’ve heard this type doesn’t have any play in it.

For me it is the ultimate setup. I never looked into PT besides for their cups. They might be cheaper than D-BOX however. I wonder if they do surge movement.

I think JCL surge platform is just a glorified seatbelt tensioner. Did you try doing the opposite to see you like it better? To mimic real surge, the frame should move backward under braking and foward upon acceleration. I guess if somehow you can mount your seatbelt in a more forward location (as long as it is in front of the pivot point) and then loop it thru a pivot point at the back of your surge chassis, then you would get both seatbelt tensioner effect under-braking and correct surge movement

No I did not. Moreover, it's not possible since it would require reprogramming of the D-BOX system. You have to realize that simulation is not primarily about imitating reality but about creating the suggestion of reality.

Nice Setup, there is nothing more to add but maybe to make it more immersive I would adjust the FoV cause this one is looking wrong and I also would mount the Screen to the rig? Looks weird when you move inside the car 🙈🤷🏽‍♂️ sorry to tell you that but you should propably try and it will feel more like real! Anyway have fun!!!

I considered mounting the screen to the rig but some study, i forgot where i red it, showed that it does not contribute to the immersion. Three static screens (ref. Berry Rowland) would have been better but I actually almost always race (or fly!) with a VR headset and that's really immersive!

@@NowIsGold I see :) I didn't want to bother you. I also had a 49" and the wrong Fov, then i adjusted that to the correct one and the sense of speed was awesome but I missed the side mirrors, so I switched to 32" Triples and now it feels great :) As you mentioned with VR it's complete different! I also use VR and Triples depends on daily decision and started with NextLevelMotion Platform V3 and upgraded now to D-Box Gen3 as in your setup I guess :) But this is currently on the way to me, hopefully it arrives next week so I am really curious about the feeling :) Berry Rowlands SRG Reviews are awesome, I like them to and appreciate his great work! What I also love to watch is Let's GO RACE channel, he has an absolut realistic setup in my point of view. That's nearly the same setup as mine except the 40" Screens, maybe with 40" the size in Simulation and Real Life is 1:1 I don't know but check it out, I guess you will like it. I saw the JCL surge + 3" D-Box actuator is so expensive compared to PT surge Do you use that or not? Can you explain why this price difference?

I don’t have experience with PT. I know that D-BOX delivers excellent quality and support. The actuators can do vibrations and movement. I have 4x1.5” plus 1x 3” for the surge. I bought the set at a local shop in the Netherlands at a reduced price.

Hi! Nice setup! I have a plateform with 4 sfx100 and one PT actuator for surge. I use Simracingstudio. Can you share with me your tuning profiles and the spyke filter you use for the horizontal actuator?because I have problems with that!

Unfortunately my profiles do not apply to your setup because I exclusively use a 4-DOF (5 actuator) D-BOX system. No spike filter needed.

Nice setup mate. What vr headset and motion compensation do you use?

I use the HP Reverb G2 but pre-ordered the Varjo AERO. Motion compensation is done by Next Level Racing motion software (over and understeering). For the other axes (D-Box) compensation is not necessary. See the links I included for the motion systems. I also do flight simulation with this setup using MSFS2020. Therefore I added dedicated hardware i.e. Trustmaster throttle quadrant, hotas and pedals.

I saw the dbox actuators and next level traction loss. Did you by the jcl surge or PT actuators surge system? How hard was it to get all 3 systems programmed to work in concert?

I chose for JCL/D-Box. It works well out of the box. Not much effort. I bought the D-BOX system and P1-X cockpit at sim-lab.eu. The surge frame is from JCL (France). Motion Systems (Next Level Racing) warranty is void however since their platform was never tested for such a high tectile load. But everything works great sofar.

How difficult is it to get multiple tuning softwares to work together? I just ordered the PT Actuators Double Traction Loss and surge to set my D-Box on top of!

With D-BOX and Next Level Racing (motion systems) platform there is no special tuning required. I do'n know PT so that you have to ask them.

@@fady904 for racing 50mm will do. For drifting 100mm would be better. But beware D-BOX actuators are expensive!
