I use red nail varnish on my red bike, as well as use it as loctite. Keeping it in the fridge prevents it from drying out too soon. Good video today!

Nice video. But be warned! Watch out for the high pressure spayer without an pressure relief valve! (The green one in the video) With hot water in it and enough pressure, the entire spayer exploded! Result a hole in my hand from the round knob and a trip to the hospital.

Been using tin foil in my shoes for almost a decade, until I sprung for some shoe covers, which are much better. Also still use newspaper inside my jersey as a windblocker on those cold days. Thank you, Sam Gupta!

Small plastic bags work wonders to keep feet warm and dry. You can even layer a baggie between 2 thin pairs of socks for extra protection

Instead of aluminum foil, use a small plastic bag, like you line small trash cans.with, instead. It'll do the same thing, stopping the wind, but it is way more playable and comfortable....

I have used isopropyl alcohol for years on my rim brake bikes for cleaning rubber brake block residue from alloy rim surfaces. Never tried it on the drivetrain components but sounds like a plan!

Been doing it for years - also works for the dog. Fill it up, put it in the boot ready for post-ride/walk clean ups

For the boot dryer, if you’ve got forced air heating and floor-mounted vents, there’s a simple passive device with 6 drying posts that you can get for about $15. Great for a pair of shoes, gloves and socks after a wet ride.

To keep your toes warm: Cut off the top of a zip lock quart food storage bag. Much more comfortable than aluminum foil.

The last tip, using aluminum foil over your feet; The concept exists as "vapor barrier liner" socks. Extremely effective. For those who suffer from cold feet in the winter, you can purchase VBL socks which fit much better. For the cheapest and also a very comfortable option (due to the thin plastic), plastic wrappers from loaves of sandwich bread is moms home solution. They fit pretty well over the feet and don't bunch up too badly.

I use a similar sprayer to clean my bikes. I put car wash soap in the spray bottle with filtered water. To finish it off I use a spray bottle with 100% filtered water. This method is very gentle on the parts. It works like a charm! I try to use disposable / biodegradable towels to dry the grimy stuff. I use a microfiber cloth to dry everything else.

For shoes I use newspapers. Overnight they are dry.

Yeah, my Mom used to do the same for us as kids. She came up as a child of the Great Depression. She had all sorts of little money saving ideas like this.

Yes I have done the newspaper trick but with the lack of newspapers lately, I just put a fan on the shoes positioned so the air blow inside the shoe. Works great too.

I've always stuffed wet shoes with kitchen paper, a couple of hours and do it again seems to work. I'd like to avoid the waste so thinking about Drysure or similar inserts, would love to know if anyone's had experience with these

Can confirm that the two sprayer combo is a total game changer for those of us in an apartment. I bought both for cleaning the car, but actually ended up using it more on the bikes. The big 5L one is great for rinsing when the bike is prop'ed up in the bath, and the nozzle is small enough that you can get inbetween spokes et al and really get everything washed. The smaller foam works well, though the foam does go everywhere...

I second the boot dryer. I invested in one after a particularly wet commute left my winter boots full of water. They didn't dry after several days on a radiator. A couple of hours on the dryer and they were dry as a bone.
