No he escaped as Batman he had to kill Bruce Wayne off. He knew from the beginning that Batman was a symbol and hope for people so when his identity was finally revealed he made the knight fall protocol to “kill” himself off(Bruce Wayne) to protect everybody he knew personally I’m sure and just permanently put the mask back on. Just a theory but it would make the ending a lot better and more meaningful than just collecting a bunch of ridler trophies to watch Bruce blow himself up

Red dead ending is perfect. Of course I was sad when John died, but the unpredictability of that mission is what makes it so great. It starts off as just a normal mission at the ranch, when I first played it back when it came out I had no idea what was going to happen. Johns death hit me so hard, because it finally seemed like he’d be able to live a good life after all, only to be murdered by the men who used him to do their dirty work. The ending is perfect: Johns life ended just as he had lived it. Fighting. Avenging his death as jack in the Remember my Family mission was one of the most satisfying things in video game history. That whole game is just a masterpiece

In the epilogue of red dead redemption it was pretty good when jack did get his revenge for John after having a dual with Edgar Ross (the man who ordered John Marston's death) that was a pretty good conclusion to make up for Jack's "faults"

I don't understand what people find ambiguous or puzzling about the ending of Arkham Knight. Batman fakes his death in order to go underground and rebuild Batman from scratch full-time. With people thinking the Bat is gone, the criminals will once again fear the vigilante stalking them in the night like they once did. And he's using the fear toxin (common sense would tell us a less potent version) in order to sow dread and doubt into people. If people just reported seeing the plain ol' Bat of old, people would wise up. Not to mention, Batman has "gone underground" in more than one comic arc in the past, so it's really not a massive leap in logic.

How you ask? Well, look at it like this. A criminal steals 1 million dollars. Batman shows up, beats him up and it's off to jail with him. Good, right? Wrong. The criminals have been through the ropes so many times that they KNOW they're gonna get out soon enough. They know they're going to get away with their crime because the jail system is literally a revolving door. Batman puts them in, they walk out, rinse repeat. What good is "fear" if nothing gets done and the status quo is maintained? Batman does nothing to solve the actual problem, and considering how smart the comics make him out to be to "always have a plan". No matter what cosmic threat or some other shit is going on, he always outsmarts it...somehow. Then why hasn't he put two and two together and realized the problem isn't the crime itself but the corruption higher up in the city or the police just don't have the man power to deal with everything themselves? He's got the money, hire more police. Train them better, better fucking jails! No, he does none of this and only wants to beat up the bad guys for a thrill. To make them "scared". Meanwhile thousands, if not millions, of people die to the joker all the time. But as long as they're "scared", it's all ok? As long as justice is served by locking them up? Jail is mean't to make the criminals STOP being criminals. But that's not working due to how weak of a system Arkham has it and still Batman keeps bashing his head against a wall in hopes it will work. Have you ever heard the definition of insanity? Batman is not the hero he's made out to be. Batman is not the hero Arkham needs or deserves. He's as much of a problem as the criminals themselves. .

Rpground the point of the fear thing was to make them STOP being criminals. A giant bat chasing you around was definitely terrifying, and stopped a lot of crime. But it eventually became less scary, and Batman was just a glorified cop. So he took his chance and became a GHOST GIANT BAT THAT LEFT CRIMINALS SEVERELY TRAUMATIZED DUE TO FEAR GAS. I don’t know about you, but I think I’d be done with crime after that. But it’s worth noting he became Batman partially because of that revolving door jail thing. He isn’t the cause of it by any means, the corrupt/poor government is, but he’ll continue doing his damn best to stop the criminals.

Sorry, know this video is a year old but I just wanted to say: I read the Arkham Knight ending as faking their deaths in the explosion and going underground. Then, proceeding to use the fear toxin as a method of making it unclear if: Batman is still a live; there is a new Batman; or the city(mostly the criminals) is sort of haunted by the memory/ghost of Batman.

Instead of GTA5, you should have had GTA4 on the list. GTA5 Death wish let's all characters live, but this wasn't an option in 4. Either your girl dies, or your cousin. You HAD to pick (if you saved before the mission). As far as BotW, this is what happens with every Zelda game I've played. Once you beat Ganon/the final boss it plays the ending and that's that. The final save is always before the final boss.

Imo the Arkham Knight ending was pretty obvious when I saw it. By the end of Arkham Knight two many people know of Batmans real identity witch could jeopardise his mission to get Gotham rid of crime. So he ends up faking his own death to throw the criminals and other people of his trail by making them think he's actually dead and there's a new hero in town even though that hero is still Batman who has even become more agressive towards the criminals since he's got them cornered now

John Diggle It's never stated explicitely, but that's pretty much it, i think. Batman killing himself (and Alfred, nonetheless) is completely out of character, so it's nsafe to assume he survives. And the hallucination-like scene at the end looks and sounds pretty much like the ones induced by Crane's fear toxin. So Bruce surviving and continuing the fight after some time using a modified version of Scarecrow's toxin to make criminals - who stopped being afraid of Batman after he was revealed to be Bruce Wayne, as implied by in-game dialogue) - fear him again is the most likely outcome.

Knightfall is a reference (likely) to the Knightfall/Knightquest/KnightsEnd comics. During Knightfall, Bruce hands off the mantle of The Batman to Jean-Paul Valley (a.k.a. Azrael). It would be interesting to see if this followed a similar thread. Regardless of what actually happened, I am 100% sure that Bruce would not kill himself nor would he allow any harm to come to Alfred. The Batman, after all, is known to have contingency plans for EVERYTHING.

My actual, canonical ending for Arkham Knight was that some of the Riddler trophies bugged so I either couldn't collect them or it didn't register that I had, so I couldn't beat the Riddler, so I couldn't activate any variation of the Knightfall Protocol at all. Far Cry 5...man, I was enjoying that game so much, and then the ending just ruined it. It's so badly done. And I'm saying this as someone who finds the Mass Effect ending flawed at worst.

Good list but Batman Arkham knights nightfall protocol doesn’t kill Bruce or Alfred. They just self destruct the manor and retire Batman. Bruce and Alfred go into hiding and that’s the end. The arkham knight ending actually makes total sense.... Through the whole game Bruce Wayne knows that batman is loosing mentally and physically. He also realizes that as long as there's a batman, Gotham and his friends will truly never be safe. So throughout the game he has oracle study the fear toxin scarecrow was using (until she gets kidnapped) and by the end of the game he's realized how to use it to his advantage. So at the end when it gets revealed that Bruce Wayne is batman and when he's flying into Wayne manor he has somehow sprayed the fear toxin in order to make it look like Bruce Wayne/ batman is dead. So in reality when Wayne manor blew up, it didn't happen but he made everyone see that it did because of the fear toxin he used on all the people. So after that happens and people think they saw his house get blown up they assume he's dead (which is his idea) but in reality he's in the dark corners using the fear toxin on the criminals of Gotham and keeping batman's fear alive in the criminals.

Taking this concept to a different place is the ending of The Alliance Alive. An RPG where if you enter the final area you can never go back. Basically the final steps of the game continually lock you in for the finale which if, like me, you were underleveled, congratulations you've just irreversibly ruined your save file. Yes, quite literally, if you start the final boss fight underleveled you have completely ruined your save as there is no way to go back and grind since the game only allows one save per file with no way to revert back. It's seriously something else to see a game irreversibly prevent you from seeing the ending at all just because you were a little overconfident.

Infinite's ending was not great in my opinion when you actually think about it. It goes against Multiverse theory, where every possibility is reality, Comstock is still possible in an infinite amount of other realities so all Elizabeth did was kill her Booker Dewitt for no reason. It goes against its own multiverse rules as the universe has 'constants' and 'variables' with Booker either staying himself or becoming Comstock being two constants that persist in the multiverse so you can't eliminate Comstock as its a constant and must always happen. In each universe you go in, Comstock still exists, other things change like Booker being a martyr or the weapon smith's wife being white instead of Chinese but Comstock and Columbia always exist, so the ending shouldn't work. Its also proven to be completely pointless as the DLC shows that a Comstock survived by going into Rapture so her little attempt to kill half of an infinite amount of universes failed. All she accomplished was killing her Booker, fucking up Rapture and setting up events so Jack can make things right except none of that should exist because it only exists because of Elizabeth's involvement but Elizabeth wiped herself and Columbia out of existence so any change they made in Rapture should never happen, and these changes include completing the Big Daddy pair bonding, releasing Atlas and giving him the control phrase to control Jack, without those, the first game can't happen and it shouldn't because Elizabeth shouldn't exist since she wiped herself and all of Columbia from existence. So the ending doesn't make sense and the DLC shows it was futile and fucks up everything else.

You put the wrong Zelda game on the list. Breath of the Wild has a good ending - Ganon is destroyed, Link and Zelda are living happily, all is sunshine and roses. It lets you keep playing from before you win, but that is the ending. Now, let's look at Link's Awakening, shall we? Throughout the game, you find cryptic statues telling you that the Wind Fish is dreaming, and all you see is scene on a sleeper's eye. The Nightmares you defeat are more specific - this is their world. If you wake the Wind Fish, their world ends. They're just trying to stay alive. Link, being an unfeeling sort of chap, kills the Nightmares, wakes up the Wind Fish, and your reward is getting to see Koholint and all the people you've met during your adventure fade away like a forgotten dream, and you're left floating on a destroyed raft in the middle of the ocean. Great. If you've managed to get the good ending, there's an implication that the girl you might have fallen in love with has been spared disappearing for good by turning into a seagull. Seriously, don't wake the Wind Fish. Just settle down happily on Koholint with Marin. What's so good about Hyrule anyway?

Zack doesn't die, Cloud, Aerith, and the others don't have to have a sad memorial for him, and the end credits don't have to roll as a sad ending plays. Should Yakuza 6's ending count? Where it seems like he's dead, but after the credits scene, he's still alive, but in a hospital bed, bribed into silence, and wanting to walk away from his friends, Haurka, and the orphanage, and all the orphans he'd been raising since Yakuza 3. But, Kiryu walks away, into the sunset, but can never see the kids he helped again, can never see Haruka again, and can never see his friends again either. But, he's alive. And also, Zack Fair and John Marston. All go and live together on a farm, in space. Zack and John talk about how they loved their friends and family, and Kiryu occasionally visits, to say hi. Cloud visits too, just to check on Zack. He wants to make sure Zack is alright. Which he is. I think Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep or Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days should've been here. In Days, the final boss fight is against Xion, who you've been bonding with throughout the entire game, and in one of the last boss fights, you have to kill her, and in the previous chapter, you ruined your friendship with Axel. So now, you have to fight her, in one of the toughest boss fights ever, which concludes with Roxas forgetting her existence as she dies, in Roxas's arms, as he tearfully says "we'll still meet up with Axel on the clock tower for ice cream, right?" In the Japanese version. And, as she dies, everyone who ever knew her literally forgets she ever existed, and Roxas tries to get his life back as he leaves the Organization, when Riku tries to stop him. And in Birth By Sleep, the game's endings for it's 3 characters kinda suck. The bad guy wins, possess Terra's body, Ven ends up in a coma, Aqua ends up sacrificing herself to keep Ven safe until he can finally wake up, but Aqua has to be trapped in the Dark World, where she wanders around there for 10 years. Where she starts to lose hope. Until the 2.8 game, where at the end, she regains some hope, and believes she'll get out and see her friends again. Because of Sora and Riku, who will rescue her. I hope Cloud uses Zack's sword well too. I mean, he didn't die, so obviously, Cloud has to be able to use a different sword or something well, right?

I think the ending fits the whole theme of the game. Its based in america, the nuclear stronghold of the world. The cult has been preparing for the end of the world, and you play the whole game thinking they are ignorant, but they keep reminding you that bad stuff is happening in the world outside your control. Besides, happy cookie cutter endings are too common. Sometimes the world needs some nuclear hell fire

Huh? They've all had definitive endings. Cutscene, credits, maybe an extra scene at the end. There's no post game in any of them (not counting second quests), and yeah, BotW is no different. BotW just puts you back to before the final encounter for you instead of making you reload your last save if you want to go back and do anything you missed.

Dying Light the Following ending spoiler below. I hope the Volakyle ending is canon, didn't sit right that Kyle Crane, the most mule headed protagonist i've played as in a long while, would just say 'fuck it' and nuke Harran, his dialogue when refusing the Mother sounded way more natural than him just giving up. Hope he makes an appearance in Dying Light 2 as the big bad, loved his character.

Actually I liked that ending it might have undermined my actions as a player but it put a neat little bow on the story of Kyle Crane. It also showed that sometimes no matter how hard you try you're going to lose no matter what you do. Which in my opinion is in the spirit of many classic Zombie stories.

I think the volakyle ending shows that too though, just in a more impactful way. Crane tried so hard to find a cure/supressant only to fail and become a zombie himself. Plus with the nuke ending (in theory) Harran is gone so no Dying Light 2 :[ unless some infected somehow escaped the quarantine. Either way, I need Dying Light 2.

While Wayne Manor DOES indeed explode, it's suggested that Brucie boy there doesn't really die. I mean, Alfred would NEVER agree to that if it was that. It's implied that Bruce DIDN'T die, but blew up Wayne Manor as to fake his death, so he could once more disappear from the public eye, as everyone would assume that he's dead, and as such, no more Batman. BUT, as the further cutscene, where a "new" Batman, imbued with the power of the fear toxin appears to take down a group of criminals in a scene reminiscent of Batman's childhood tragedy, it appears to be that either someone else has taken up the mantle of Batman, probably with Bruce's blessing, or Bruce HIMSELF is back as Batman yet again, but this time without his alter-ego. AND, if I'm not mistaken, such a thing WAS done by Batman in an old comic storyline where Batman basically gives up on being Bruce Wayne to constantly be Batman.

He gets his story explored a bit outside of the games with training Spartan 4s but really that had it's own problems because Reach was basically non-canon because it made so many other aspects of the games and books and so on janked the fuck up but I digress. 1. Agreed. Damn government doesn't know when to leave well-enough alone. 2. Both endings are bad. You forgot to mention that Joseph Seed also takes you to a bunker and restrains you, telling the "Rook" that he and you will begin the world anew as a second Family. The only good ending is achieved by not arresting Joseph at the beginning of the game, then coming back with the National Guard. Basically, the only way to beat Far Cry 5 is to not play it. 3. Oh, ME3, so much promise. You should have allowed Shephard to retire from active duty and teach the next generation, like a less-promiscuous (or more, depending on your playstyle) Captain Kirk. 4. Why make me choose!? I do not like making difficult choices in games. Real life allows me to find loopholes. 5. WTF, Nintendo!? You build up a fight with one of your greatest villains, and at the end of it, you make me go back to just before the fight!? 6. Kinda happy that Arkham Knight ended like it did. The entire game was building to the end of the Dark Knight. He wouldn't allow Alfred, the one person who truly knew Batman and Bruce, die by his hand. He used the explosion as a cover for him and Alfred to escape through the Batcave. Honestly, Batman has planned this end for years. Plus, Bruce Wayne is still active, but using a modified version of Scarecrow's fear toxin to truly become fear itself.

I came close to not even saving Catwoman because of that last stupid bloody race track and the Riddler gloating because a prompt for the next slammer thing didn't bother to appear on time. Basically the game decided to continue after he gets back to his family which should have been the end. Like seriously, every mission after is only given by Uncle, Abigail and Jack. Nothing new is really introduced so why even bother? So they could put in his death just to make you feel for him. In reality I think the better ending is right aftee he gets his family. Like after all he's been through he can finally have the life he wants. Instead it's "after all that we're gonna kill him"

The leviathan DLC should have been included in the main game. If you did not buy the DLC (at the time i did not even have an internet connection at home) you miss out on the explanation for the reapers which just sucked. The Citadel DLC also helped cement the fact that after the reapers there could have been a life for shepherd to have. Those being blocked to DLC left out to much for me to really appreciate ME3
