Looks like it's specific to that kind of SIM card sled. That phone's sled can support 1 SIM card and 1 microSD--OR 2 SIM cards. That hack basically makes it so both the microSD and SIM contact are touching. Definitely won't work in any phone not designed like this. And yes, SIMs are really that small once the plastic is off. Never seen anything like this, though!

As a person who helps people with phones and computers, you seem to lack logic. What laboye was saying is that the socket is designed to accept either a SIM card or a microSD card. The pins are in two different positions. You can see that from the tray in the video: it's designed to accept a microSD card in one orientation, and a SIM card in the other orientation. By sticking the SIM to the microSD card, the microSD card is touching the SD pins, and the SIM is touching the SIM pins at the same time. You can tell this from looking at the shapes on the tray. He hasn't connected the microSD card to the SIM interface, or the SIM card to the microSD interface, which seems to be what you believe. Also, why would you need a PIN code to reset (something)?

I'm not to certain but I think the huawei honor 5x has this capability... just to clear it up that port on the phone showed is SPECIAL it takes either a SIM or a MICRO sd, the pins are oriented different directions which is why this is possible this is going to work for iPhone and is rare in Android

You can go to Radioshack (Yes, they still exist), or online, Microcenter, anywhere like that.

It really depends what you want to make, and where you live. If you're in the US, radio shack and micro center as previously noted - though id recommend micro center as they have a huge selection of electronic hobbyist stuff, where radioshack basically has a drawer or two now a days. If you don't have either near by then DigiKey, Mouser, and Newark are all good online vendors. eBay is also a great place to buy cheap stuff, though don't buy important components on there since you never really know what you're getting is genuine. In europe and such I think RS and Element 14 are the big places

As I understand Samsung Galaxy S7 has a second slot which can be used either for 2nd SIM or for memory card but not together. Here they make both SIM cards and memory card work

Looks like he changed a MICRO SIM card from low capacity to 14 gig capacity. But you can buy a 16 Gig capacity Micro sim card for 8 bux too.

From what I can figure out, it allows you to use the same port on the phone for an additional sim card and memory card at the same time by creating a 'hybrid' sim/memory card. So instead of just having an extra sim or having a memory card, you can have both at the same time.

You can trim into the gold bit as long as you don't go too deep. This goes further but it's similar to cutting down a very large sim card to a much smaller size. Look at it when he turns it around and you can see the important part in the middle. I don't know if his method works, but you can cut into it.
