@FeelGoodLife

You're welcome, @Rosy91QU! It's great that you're eager to complement your rehabilitation with additional exercises. However, it's crucial to ensure that any additional exercises you incorporate into your routine are safe and appropriate for your specific condition, especially if you're currently NWB after surgery. Always consult with your orthopedic surgeon and physical therapist before adding any new exercises. Continue to prioritize the exercises and rehabilitation plan provided by your healthcare team. Depending on your current stage of recovery, you may want to focus on gentle range-of-motion exercises to maintain joint mobility. Ankle pumps, gentle knee bending, and hip exercises can be helpful. Since you are non-weight-bearing on your lower extremity, you can also work on strengthening your upper body and core to maintain overall fitness. Recovery from surgery can be a gradual process. It's important to be patient and progress at a pace that your body can handle. Remember, your healthcare team is the best source of advice and guidance during your recovery process. They can help you determine when it's appropriate to start weight-bearing and transition to more weight-bearing exercises. Let me also share this article I have that might be able to help you. Ive been on bed rest for 3 months since my tibial plateau fracture(no surgery). This month i decided to start exercising, after gaining my mental confidence back. I knee still feels wobbly and im walking with one crutch, i really want to be able to at least walk without the crutch by the end of this month. I would really appreciate some tips, so i am able to put alittle more weight on my knee.

Hi, @smokeem5893! It's great that you're regaining your confidence and starting to exercise after your tibial plateau fracture. However, it's important to approach your recovery gradually and prioritize your safety. Before making any significant changes to your activity level, consult with your healthcare provider or orthopedic specialist. Consider working with a physical therapist who can create a customized rehabilitation plan tailored to your specific needs and goals. Focus on strengthening the muscles around your knee, including your quadriceps and hamstrings. Recovery from a tibial plateau fracture can take time. Be patient with yourself and celebrate small victories along the way. Consistency in your exercise routine is key to making progress. Aim for regular, daily exercise and gradually increase the intensity as advised by your healthcare provider or physical therapist. Let me share with you a great article that could also help you. Hey! Thank you for the exercises. I'm week 5 Post accident and week 3.5 Post-Op. I was doing of two of these exercises. But not the rest and they've been helpful. My goal is to start walking with assistance June 11th. That's the date my doctor set. I'm so thankful I started very early with mild PTs. I believe it is a direct result of my current recovery pace! @FeelGoodLife
@FeelGoodLife Жыл бұрын
Hello, @ernieparker4309! It's great that you're already in physical therapy and working on your recovery. However, the persistent pain and continued use of a cane at 18 weeks post-surgery is something that should be discussed with your healthcare provider and physical therapist. Remember that recovery from a surgical procedure can vary from person to person. It's important to be patient and realistic about your progress. Continually seek guidance from your healthcare team and physical therapist to ensure you're on the right track toward improved function and reduced pain. They can make adjustments to your treatment plan to help you reach your goal of walking unassisted. Let me also share with you the related article for this video that might be able to help you. Hello, @wannabhappy2462! Since we aren't able to do a physical exam and see exactly what is going on with your knee, I can't for sure recommend what exercises you should do. Just a quick note: before trying an electronic muscle stimulator (EMS) or other rehab techniques, it's crucial to get approval from your healthcare professional or physical therapist. Since we aren't able to do a physical exam and see exactly what is going on with your knee, I can't for sure recommend what exercises you should do. I can offer some general suggestions that might help you improve your mobility and address the stiffness in your knee. 1. Do Range of Motion Exercises. These are exercises where you use your opposite hand or a towel to gently move your knee and ankle through their range of motion. Start with slow, controlled movements to prevent further injury and increase the frequency gradually. 2. Continue wiggling your ankle, as this can help improve circulation and prevent blood clots. Try writing the alphabet with your big toe in the air to work on ankle mobility. 3. While seated, gently bend and straighten your knee as much as you can without causing pain. Use your hands to assist if necessary. This can help improve knee mobility. 4. While sitting, tighten your thigh muscles as much as possible and hold for a few seconds, then release. Repeat this several times to help strengthen your quadriceps. 5. Apply a warm compress to your knee before attempting exercises can help relax and loosen the muscles, making it easier to move. I would still suggest that you consult with your healthcare provider or physical therapist for guidance tailored to your specific situation, as they have the most accurate information about your condition. I have a great article that might be able to help you. I had surgery of tibial plateau and ankle - malleolus in the end of June. 4months non weight bearing... recovery is really hard and slow, i was so nervous, cause my leg just didn't know how to work, and some muscles were super weak, but little by little i started to walk. At home I usually don't use crutch, outside i am using one, but still around ankle and knee feels very uncomfortable and stiff and hard to walk. For the first 4 months i was using a walker a lot. and after first 2,5 months when i started PT i was learning walking imitation, put feet starting on heel and roll it to the finger, and also bending knee (at that time my knee bend was about 30-40 degree) like normal walking, just don't put weight on it. In all that time i so used to jump on one leg, that i had to learn to stop that habit. Also I did exercise while lying and sitting. using balls, rollers and so on. Hardest and simplest exercise when you lying on your back, good leg bended and bad leg try to bend by sliding on your heel. this exercise was hell, but very good. Most important to move leg often as you can. Even you can bend your knee 10 angle degree, keep on bending it, just don't lie down like a plank. Watching TV and move it a bit. Every few weeks i get like a surprise moments: oh i can to bend a bit more and more. Later: oh i can a bit walk with one crutch (even that was not correct way, just later i could to walk with one in correct way), much later at work i stand up and walk few steps, i forgot my crutches... It's very slow process and so annoying, but need keep on fighting. Very often you have to become a "specialist" of your health problems, cause not always you get good help from specialist who are around you, special for those who lives in small towns. And this trauma is not that common and not many of specialist have enough knowledge.

I'm truly sorry to hear about the challenges you're facing post-surgery, @alisarytejeshwar3111. Here are a few general suggestions that might help alleviate some discomfort and improve your knee flexibility: Take it slow: Gently increase knee bending each day to avoid extra pain and speed up healing. Warm-up: Use a warm compress or take a warm bath before exercises to relax muscles and make movement easier. Gentle stretching: Add easy knee stretches to your routine, focusing on a comfortable range of motion without overextending. Pain management: Follow your healthcare professional's advice for pain relief, whether it's medications or other recommended methods. Physical therapy: Consult with a specialized physical therapist for a personalized exercise plan after orthopedic surgery. Patience and rest: Allow time for healing, rest when needed, and communicate any concerns with your healthcare team. Let me also share a great resource that might be able to help you.
