@missylarsson35173 жыл бұрын
How was it invalidated? Most of them agreed with her, Rachel showed it very clearly that she agreed. I think she just took it way too personal BECAUSE her sexuality has been questioned many times before. The purpose of the game was to question people’s sexuality but she felt unnecessarily attacked and came across as stand offish. It’s just harder to vote out people you like and when she was acting snappy it was easier to vote her out.
@missylarsson35173 жыл бұрын
@jesus Is a homo Lol sure “I am the problem”, I am a femme myself and I do get questioned but it has always been by people outside the community. Within the community I’ve never had anyone question it. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen but to claim it is what happened in this video is ridiculous. Even Anandita wrote in this comment section that she didn’t think that was the reason she got voted out, she said she made a lot of points that they didn’t include but on her speed-defense she repeated the femme-thing but she also said that she just took the first thing to mind. It was a game where you were supposed to question people’s sexuality and they voted out 3 people on very loose grounds - because that’s the game. I don’t think anyone would’ve been “questioned” about their sexuality from each other if these women had met in any other queer setting.

@@missylarsson3517 your reading of it is so accurate, I dont think any of them disagreed with her and I think they heard her out the first time she addressed it. I definitely feel like the fact that they didn't see desire as one of the fem presenting ones even though she was completely feminine, is like deeply rooted in racial stereotypicalization, she dressed feminine but they still felt as if she presented as "masculine" or "agressive" without the intentions of it being that way. Typically because of the fact that most or let's say the "greater side" of black lesbians are "studs" or "hard" or "masculine" and she didn't really present that so they made the assumption that she could have been straight, or not a fem Les.

I have to agree. It all boils down to black women not being seen as gentle enough to fill out the typical feminine role. I totally get where Anandita was coming from. She just recently came out, she's nervous. She's obviously not going to put herself out there and have a lot to say, not only because she recently came out, but because she explained her current situations with her family not being directly accepting of her or being raised to marry a man her whole life. It's something new to her, and to be honest, i'm disappointed that the others didn't really believe her or give her the time of day, even to guide her or give her words of encouragement as she 's new to the lgbtq+ community, which i'm sure she needed at the moment. Personally, no, I am not a feminine lesbian but I am aware that feminine lesbians exist and are just as important as anyone else, just like masculine gays. I also believe part of the voting out process was stereotypical seeing that she doesn't "look" like the common lesbian stereotypes, kinda like the opposite form Isabelle. That's partially because Anandita's a feminine lesbian. Another thing is that maybe since she recently came out and she's new to the community, she wants to start being feminine, then maybe she might not, because I've heard stories about that. Either way, it still diminishes her self esteem and probably makes people who are closeted feminine lesbians who are watching this video feel like they are less than or scared to come out. Idk man, it's wrong.

Wow this video made me really upset. With the way they were treating Anandita and Desire as inherently less queer for simply being feminine poc lesbians, the obviously strong stereotyping that allowed Isabelle to win simply because she had short hair and a collared shirt, Isabelle constantly saying she feels weird about Anandita for no reason(???), literally Madeleine saying “I trust her” just because she looked a certain way is so aggravating. Anandita was rightfully disappointed that she got voted out so early and the masc presenting straight girl won. It all fell together. This video is a perfect display of the stereotypes and intersectionality that exists even within the LGBTQ+ community.

Ppl are attacking Anadita saying she’s annoying but she was really addressing an important bias. Unfortunately, I feel like her aggressiveness stemmed from being invalidated (b/c of her femininity) in the lesbian community. It’s obvious that how “masculine” you look played a major role in the game as the most unconventional ones got to stay in the game the entire time, rarely being questioned.
@reality_is_a_lie95983 жыл бұрын
The issue with her was she was constantly accusing everyone of coming for her for looking femme- they never did that at all. I understand her frustration with how were treated but going at other peoples throats over it wasent cute
@FaerieElethia3 жыл бұрын
Masculinity didn’t play a “major role” in this game, though. Madeline, Desire, and Olive are all very feminine. Just because they may not be as conventionally/traditionally feminine or “attractive” as rachel and anandita are, that doesn’t make them any less feminine. They’re just a bit more creative with the way they express their femininity. That’s not to mention that Black women tend to be perceived as “masculine” just for their Afrocentric features (ex. wider nose, bigger lips, athletic bodies, “shorter” hair from their shrinkage, etc.) so it could also be offensive when viewed from that lens.
@FaerieElethia3 жыл бұрын
Btw I liked Anandita a lot lol I just didn’t like the way her and rachel were the self-proclaimed “most feminine” when they rlly weren’t. I’d be offended if I were Desire tbh
@lea30493 жыл бұрын
@@FaerieElethia I agree, that’s literally the point I’m trying to make. I’m not saying they ARE masculine but Desire, Olive, Mad, and Isabel are not conventionally/traditionally “feminine” compared to the girls with the softer features/voice, more makeup and lighter hues. People assume that makes them “more likely” to be lesbian because they don’t (or want to) look like the stereotypical woman that a man desires. This is a societal problem that lesbians themselves have internalized as displayed in the game
@user-ok4xb1rd9f3 жыл бұрын
The first ones who don't fit the stereotype are always voted out first. On the other hand, being a femme lesbian is a double-edged sword. At the same time, only femme presenting lesbians are shown in movies and also femme lesbians are the least visible group. Bias towards every group exists, in my community, there's way more bias towards butch lesbians than femme ones. For example, I heard from multiple people: "why date someone who doesn't look like a girl."
