@@MartialArtsJourney Rokas, my thought is, if not outright giving a link to a crowdfunding link right now, to maybe put a quick mention , even just a few seconds, of how you're going to fund S3 in each upcoming video just because it puts that idea in front of more people's eyes and reminds them to check, or at least give them a date of when you're planning to put it up, etc = more views = more funding as of now, ep1 of USDC is at 692k views, ep2 is at 2.3m views, ep3 is at 928k views, there's no guarantee that the youtube algorithm will consistently bless you as much as it has for some of these videos. this whole series while its fresh and popping on KZbin is an excellent promotion itself for season 3, I'd even suggest going back and pinning a comment on the previous videos for the crowdfunding link if you can Not to say that the quality doesn't speak for itself, you're putting up some of the most valuable info on self defense and martial arts in the scene right now. To me all the eps deserve millions of views, and your editing is next level (i watched em all on patreon a few weeks ago ;) ), i just dont trust the YT algo to bless u appropriately for all your efforts to keep your s3 crowdfunding promotion on just one video alone with that being said, you're doing great and you may already have better reasons for your original plans for s3 crowdfunding. @@TheWesterlyWarlock LOL, I think it's supposed to represent an actual bar just without all the regular non fighting people. (cuz they'd need like 300 extras) not that unrealistic for a whole bunch of people to start fighting all at once, it does happen (though usually it's just 1 big fight that goes all over the place, 3 totally unrelated fights breaking out at the same does seem unlikely)
@JJ-mv7rb
@JJ-mv7rb Күн бұрын
Honestly from a self-defense standpoint that is valid. It was set up as a bouncing 'gig' (we'll pay you X amount tonight to keep the peace). Walking away from that job went it went too crazy should be valid from a self-defense point of view. That's when you call actual authorities to the scene. What could have enhanced the scenario was to have innocent bystanders at the club that were put in danger, which might create a reason for a bouncer to protect them. But this seemed to be a scenario where a bunch of idiots are fighting and a poop man is walking around. Nobody is getting paid enough to deal with that. I did 'gig work' bouncing for a bit. Mostly working as a doorman and checking IDs but also being asked to throw unruly people out of the bar, etc. I'm a big guy (6'5) and 99% of the time verbally directing bad actors out the door was sufficient. 'Hey man, you gotta go, sorry. Don't worry about your tab, it's covered. Let's go'. (The bar tab thing is pre-emptive because the first thing they will say is that they have an open tab and try to stay on those grounds, and when it comes time to eject someone their tab is the last thing on anyone's mind, and if they provided a card up front that will get charged anyway). Anyway, the scariest thing that happened was when a par patron came up to me and told me someone was brandishing a firearm in the men's room. In retrospect I think this may have been stupid of me, but I went in there and 'washed my hands' next to a guy that was absolutely just looking at himself in the mirror with a pistol in his waistband and pulling it out and posing to himself, and he looked high as hell. I went back out to the bar and told the closest bartender what was going on and told them to call the police right away and then positioned myself right outside the bathroom door to keep anyone from going in and hopefully prevent an incident when the guy came out. It was a Friday or Saturday night in the 'club/dance' district meaning police were fortunately already right around the corner, and they came in within minutes and apprehended the guy with no shots fired, fortunately. So, the nights I did that, my pay was cash, under the table, $100 or so, plus after the bar shut down I'd get some free drinks while the place did their after-hours cleanup. You have to ask yourself whether that's worth it to risk getting killed, and whether you're willing to go into a bathroom where you're told there's a dude brandishing a pistol. I ended up doing exactly that (while not confronting) because the bar was full of innocents. That's a scenario in which you're torn between your 'duty' to making a small amount of cash versus worrying about the safety of the innocents around you. I think the scenario I dealt with would be a good one in terms of the 'self defense scenario' championship. The one they did deal with was a bunch of people fighting each other.... maybe not worth the pay vs personal risk.

One of the tactical failures is to leave one fight unfinished to go break up another one. The goal is not to be fair or even helpful. The goal is to protect the club from damage and liability. Once you grab a guy, you should not let him go until he's outside the room. If the other guy follows him outside to continue the fight on public property, thats not your problem. If another fight breaks out, then deal with that in sequence -- but if you keep leaving guys "half-finished" then the situation is only going to get worse. The exception, of course, is if there's a deadly weapon in another fight (one of the guys grabs a broken bottle at one point in the scenario) -- then you have to rush to that no matter what the status of the other fights is. Jesse's use of the chair as a grappling device (getting poop man between the legs of the chair and pinning him gently to the wall) was the best move in the whole episode. I would have given him the win for that. That was above and beyond the bouncer's job -- he actually contributed to public safety, not just the club's safety. The city would give him a medal for that.
@JourneyLT
@JourneyLT 2 күн бұрын
In terms of doing your job as a bouncer, yes. In terms of self-defence from catching disease, he got too close to poop man. If he instead used a stool, he could create more distance and have a similar level of control. Since this is the Self Defence Championship, sorry Jesse, but overall it wasn't the best decision in terms of self-preservation.
@gw1357
@gw1357 2 күн бұрын
@@JourneyLT If we're going by that logic, then they shouldn't have attempted to break up anything. If your goal is pure self-preservation then don't get into a protective line of work because it, by definition, requires you to sacrifice your own self-defense to a certain degree.

awesome stuff as always, but I still feel like sometimes the uniforms of the contenders are to difficult to differenciate from the other fighters. I would suggest dressing the "opposing force" in one-tone / one color uniforms (no patterns) that would stand out from the "anatomic" uniforms of the contestants. The protective gear should also be one tone/color. Right now in both bar room scenarios when SHTF it's visually just a mess of bodies, quite hard to follow who's doing what. Nathan, Craig and Ranton are ok to spot, wearing white, green and red. But Jesse and Jordan are invisible, because the attackers also have blue and white and grey patterns on their clothes.

Really appreciate this series. Yes, there is martial arts, but the scenarios don't just include fighting. How do you handle aggressive customers in a bar without hurting anyone? How do you justify your actions in legal cases? We see how these train martial artists deal with it and it can be tricky. And sometimes, yeah, it's real. I'd definitely do what Ranton and Craig did in their scenario. An excellent job and looking forward to the last two episodes.

I guess that's why it's just a very brief bonus. It's still useful both in terms of the competitors and viewers in that it makes people consider that component of any scenario and the arguments they might need to put together, so it's a basic thought exercise rather than a mock trial really.
