I am Japanese living in USA. Lost a job in pandemic but studied and pursued my dream of becoming a Certified Personal trainer at the age of 58.(just a few weeks ago) As your grand ma said I did not give up easily. Now follow your advise (from other video)I should start training people on line and hopefully help those who physically inactive and un healthy. Thank you.

I totally agree with you that talent is overrated. In the West when we speak about Wolfang Amadeus Mozart, we usually speak about his incredible talent. Nobody or almost nobody talks about the years of hard training his father imposed on him.

That's why I admire Beethoven more than Mozart; Michelangelo over Raphael, Edison over Steve Jobs. Diligence wins over talent.

Not to mention that both his father and older sister were both talented musicians in their own rights. So he was born into an accomplished musical family. Thus, environment also plays a role.

My Mom is Okinawan and grew up during WW2 so I turned up being frugal from her great examples. My siblings and I learned how to repair things around the house by ourselves so there's less dependency on paid services. I feel so lucky to have her as my mentor bc she is one of the smartest and most practical people I have ever encountered in my life. I am happily married in the States now and financially comfortable partly bc of the wisdom she instilled in me. I can totally relate to your suggestions but I guess it's also the Okinawan pride. Thanks for the videos you make as it has made investing my SS pension more fun.

Such an inspiring tube. One of these routines I already practice ( in a different way). I walk to the grocery store with my shopping cart from home weekly and put my groceries in my small cart before taking it to the cashier. Then I walk home with it and empty it. I generally bypass the center aisles except for needed items that I have on my list. Tip: shop the perimeter of the store ( produce and perishable items are there; processed food is in the center aisles)

My daughter and I use to take many a walk on the beaches... well, as much as we could. I miss Okinawa as much as I miss the Philippines (though the PI tended to have a more hostile environment). I likewise see myself never retiring... as I tell everyone who asks, I will retire only one time. To this day I subscribe to what you spoke of about keeping food in my residence... as in only what I may need for a day or two... which makes for a smaller refrigerator/freezer and lower energy consumption. Yes, I'm frugal to a fault.
