Doing exact opposite of u. Live in Western Ky and hate this invasive Bermuda. On much of my back yard I recently tilled several garden size sections after adding layer compost. Then laid HGT bluegrass sod in checker pattern. Filled in between with layer of top soil and seeded with fescue. Then rolled it really good. Been keeping it watered well with digital automatic sprinklers. Already needs mowing on the sod! Also have same plugger tool as u and have been plugging different areas from already established HGT bluegrass areas.

Looks great! Very impressed! I prefer centipede grass. We’re doing a new construction build in Alabama. When it comes time to lay down our sod, should I put our Centipede down in March as well? Is that the best time for that type of grass? I’m in the same state you are. Also, should I put some type of pre-emergent on the dirt before laying sod down? The entire yard is just loose dirt right now because of our build. Before they stirred the dirt up, there was just lots of weeds and crabgrass growing everywhere. Thank you for any advice. It looks good Jason. It takes a long time for one person But your yard looks really good. Any idea to get fill dirt mixed with dirt in Marshall county, cheeper then 350.00 truck load? Near Guntersville. Full acre in front.

Hey Jason have you ever got red rash on ankles and top of feet from certain boots. I did with bogs boots. I have some ariats now tread fast 6'. What type of boots do you use? I am not sure if its all the moisture in the grass during morning times building up on my pant leg and dripping down into those bogs. So far so good since I switched boots.

I have 7 acres I have been trying to establish with bermuda. It's looking fairly good right now but the price of herbicides make it hard to maintain. I spray preemergent at maximum rate in late Feb. and early Sept. depending on the rain forecast. I find 3-way is cheap enough to broadcast spray for most of the broadleaf weeds but I'm unable to find anything cheap enough to broadcast spray for grassy weeds such as sandburs, downy brome and goosegrass. Any suggestions?

If you would have cut the Bermuda sod into smaller squares you would have had a better coverage and a faster fill-in.

I hate Bermuda in my fesque. So burned out my front yard to reseed. This seem like a waste of time for a yard this size making plugs. I would have just reseeded the yard with Bermuda and called it a day. Maybe it’s the best way for jason situation.
