I got my 24 trd off road premium (solar octane) in early May. Just turned 14000 miles. 9000 of those mikes towing my 2100 lb camper from Ottawa Ontario to the Yukon and Alaska. The Alaska hwy can be rough in places and I hit a lot of gravel and potholed roads as well. My Tacoma has performed flawlessly to date. Not one issue or problem. Mileage avg was about 14mpg, which isn’t bad considering the roads, tow weight and fully loaded truck bed. Was a 5 week trip. So far, I’m the proverbial happy camper. The 4th gen tows far better than my gen3 did. Hey, would love to get your taco.

Thanks for the frank assessment. I have a new (as of July) TRD Off road. No upgrade package. Have about 4,000 miles on it, including some cross country miles. Have had two previous gen Tacomas. Must say, this one is a gem. Powertrain/transmission is monumentally quicker and so much smoother, as is handling at all speeds. Averaging a little over 20 mpg with stock tires. Folks are finding all sorts of little stuff to nitpick about, but I've found absolutely nothing to complain about to date. Of course, reliability/durability is a question given it's newness, but Toyota has always stood behind its products. Long story short, I'm a happy camper and expect to be for some time to come. Do like your videos, Jon. Keep it up.

Funny, other brands, like Nissan Frontier, believe in doing the R&D BEFORE marketing the product. But Toyota is intelligent enough to realize a free lunch from the bootlicking fanboys when they see one! That's the power of fanboy love. Mother Toyota provides her boys an external identity, and she expects a strong donation in return.

You basically had no issues except for the connector and it was minor. Squeaks, rattles, vibration, etc. are annoying but are not issues. I’m sure they will fix it in the 25s. I like the look of the 3rd Gens better, especially the Access Cab.

@@jeanclaude7018 Toy doesn’t use timing belts, wet belts, direct only injection so they have a good chance of making it. Virtually all Toys get scrapped from rust or accidents. I’ve never heard of one mechanically totaled.
@jeanclaude7018Ай бұрын
@@user-tb7rn1il3q well, friend, that was the old order of things, though I am very sure some soft Tacos got totalled from frame rot, which I would certainly call a mechanical issue even if it's not an engine. I'm already predicting junkyards littered with the latest Tundras and Mex soft Tacos in the nexr decade. They're both off to a horrible start. Imagine when Tundra depreciates into the $30,000 range, and that garbage engine blows out of warranty. The engine job is already estimated to be $30,000. Simple math says NO ONE except a rich fanboy is going to "invest" in that money pit. It's planned to he a throwaway. Next, turbos ALONE are being valued at $6-8k EACH, and there are TWO. AND, thanks to brilliant design, the cab cones off just to service them. Nobody is going to be doing this at home, so 2 turbos + cab R+R = $20000, without even getting into the lemon engine itself and worrying about wet belts. I despise the wet belt design, but that job or maintaining DI system has got to be cheaper that working on that Tundra nightmare. And we have no idea if the little Mexican brother will do much better. It's already got trans issues and QC is not looking good. It is very typical for fanboys to "overlook" these white-elephant issues and continue pitching Toyota as "the best " but that's not realistic when you look at raw facts and numbers. I'd be TERRIFIED to buy these new breeds of "Toyota." Imagine blowing 80k on a cRapstone, fully aware that it's a ticking time bomb. Insane.

About to pass 10k on my 4th Gen.. still no issues. I don't have as much weight as you (yet) but I'm slowly adding to it. My biggest concerns at the moment is mostly suspension; I recently put 1400 lbs of cement bags in the bed and it felt like it was bottoming out a bit earlier than it should, and adding a stealth bumper and winch on the front I'm also concerned about the longetivity with the OEM Bilstein struts since they have the internal bump stop. I agree with your conclusion though, the hybrid is the way to go if you're going to go crazy with mods. The only reason though I didn't was because I did not want to lose any interior space.
