It doesn't tell me what I should do to all the dead bodies in my basement..... Or that stench that decomposition leaves behind. COME ON BUZZFEED, COVER ALL YOUR BASES.
@jessepinkman1839
@jessepinkman1839 10 жыл бұрын
Just get some hydrofluoric acid and soak the bodies in it overnight. Make sure you don't do it in a bathtub, though. You will end up with a hole in the ceiling and an angry partner. (In the unlikely event that you are serious, please don't destroy the bodies. Just go to the police)

take a Huge amount of perfume and spray it in your basement so the stench goes away for about 12- 14 weeks and you can just throw the bodies in some lake in the middle of nowhere

Seems more sensible to me to put dishcloths, washcloths, towels, shirts, etc. between your plates. You have to move them anyway.

With the box-handle thing: Don't cut a square... cut a wide-based X and fold the points in, gives you a flap so blunt cardboard isn't cutting into your hand and it won't tear the box as easily. Or if you move a lot (going back and forth to college or in the military), use plastic bins to pack your stuff. Saves on finding cardboard boxes and gives you storage bins for the stuff you won't use. You can even stack the empty ones inside of each other and stick them in a closet.

When moving into a new place DO A RENTERS INSPECTION!!! Mark down anything you see on the walls, floor or ceiling. Inside and out! Do this before any of your belongings touch the house. It'll stop any bad blood and or loss of precious bond if/when you leave. That dint in the wall? That was there before I was here, bam documented on paper and photographed! Oh and a standard rubber/eraser will help remove skuff makrs from walls, just rub gently :)

One thing I did when I moved: I would write a number and location (kitchen/bathroom/bedroom....) on the box, then record the number and everything in the box into a note book. NEVER lose track of that note book. When you need something specific, you just look what box it's in based on the number in the note book.
@cyriewilson3170

Ian Mccann I could do that if I were moving from one dinky apartment to another dinky apt. But I was moving a house, with over 60 boxes. One box could have held between 5 to 50 items or more. It's easier to write a number on all sides of a box than it is to write all of it's contents. For example: I inherited my Mothers ENTIRE kitchen, that means baking supplies, pots, pans, dishes, china, and everything in between! When I moved, I suddenly needed a 9x13 cake pan, the measuring cups, and etc.. I just opened my log book, and found exactly which boxes I needed to open.

Ian Mccann I use a number on the box and make a photo of all the things wich are in the box. The Photo gets the same number.

The best boxes come from the grocery store. Ask for Apple boxes. They have lids that cover the entire box so the are strong enough to stack as high as you can lift them and they have handles.

To ensure you get your deposit back from a landlord who may just use any excuse to keep it, take pictures of the apartment before you move in, print the pictures, and have them notarized. Take pictures of the walls, the carpet, the ceilings, write down any imperfections that were already there on moving day so when the landlord says he/she is keeping the deposit, get out the document and let them know you will sue for the money if you have to. This method worked for me! I also had my mom do this when she moved into a house that had a few flaws..we had a feeling the landlord would probably try to keep her deposit when she moved out. Well, he did try, and we had the document in hand when she went to get her deposit back and turn in the keys. The landlord tried to say that she put dents in the walls with furniture..mom was able to prove those were already there. The deposit was hers again! It may take a couple of hours to create and prepare the document, but if you get $500 back it's like you're earning $250 an hour..worth it!

Another great tip ... don't empty the dresser drawers into boxes. Pull the drawers out, move the dresser into the truck and put the drawers back in the dresser. Repeat at destination. Saves loads of space too. This was always a pet peeve of my father's when people move, full boxes & empty drawers.

Spider Robinson wrote in Callahan's Key about a great method for remembering which moving box had what: take everything. Start at the front door, work your way around the room clockwise filling up boxes. Don't skip anything. As you pack, label them: Living Room east wall 1, Living Room east wall 2, Living Room south wall , etc. Then all you have to do to remember which box has what, is to remember where it was before you moved.

That plates one is a bad idea, use newspaper or tea towels, it takes up less room in the box and covers the whole plate against breakage, not just the centre. The handles idea would only work on lighter boxes and boxes not completely packed, otherwise the box will tear or the items may get damaged. Ammonia can't be used on wool or plant based carpets and rugs/mats as it's too alkaline for them, if you do use the ammonia solution, make sure the room is very well ventilated as ammonia fumes can be dangerous.

For those with DVD shelves (either with movies or games on them) wrap the entire shelf in packing wrap that you can get at Home Depot or Lowes. This saves you time from having to pack and unpack everything on the shelves. It may be a little heavy but most smaller shelves are easy to pick up. Books are usually too heavy for this.

Liter or 750 ml liquor boxes are the best for glassware; they are sturdy and already have the dividers. (if you can find them w/ the inserts) Tell the folks at your favorite pkg. store to save you their boxes; find out what day their shipment (s) come in and go that afternoon to pick them up - not too earlier while they're still stocking, but not so late as to make them waste valuable space in holding them for you. The smaller boxes for 350 & 200 ml sizes make great transportation for fragile knickknacks or tableware.
