Hello Roger. You do not need to turn the refrigerator off to change the filter. You can change it while the water is running to it. You may want to have a small towel handy to wipe up any water, but that should be all you need. We thank you for purchasing Whirlpool brands, and hope we can help in the future.

replaced old filter with correct Filter 1, but no water will flow through the new filter. Tried 3 separate `new filters, and nothing. Water flows just fine with old filter, and without a filter.

My fridge only has an ice maker, it doesn’t have a water dispenser, so how can I run 3 gallons of water to flush the new filter??

I have a brand new fridge deliver yesterday and the water filter was already installed by the technicians... And now when the ice maker produce a batch the water, the filter pop out of is compartment and we need to soak all the water in the fridge replace the filter like you demonstrate on the video and purge the air of the systeme again... What's the problem ???

I just replaced my filter and its particles floating in my water and it taste worst then the facet water. I ran about six cups of water through the filter, hoping it would taste like it did before with the old filter, replacing the filter is fool proof so could the filter be defective?

I've been having an issue with a filter door just like this one. The little door won't snap closed. When you start to push it down it pops back up. Our real estate agent got lucky and got it to close after messing with it for 5 mins

My filter (installed by Sears technicians when they delivered the fridge) does not eject when opening the cover door. As a result, I cannot get it out. I've tried the whirlpool website and every possible place I can think of for help. How can I remove this old filter so that I can install the new one?

The filter cover door appears to be missing the plastic piece that latches on to the filter itself.

WhirlpoolCorpCare Unfortunately, the problem is the missing lever that latches on to the filter and pulls it out when you open the cover door. I tried to order a new part, but the parts diagram for my fridge (and the link you just sent me) refer to a filter located behind the grille at the bottom of the refrigerator, not the one shown in the video and actually in my fridge that is at the upper right of the main compartment. I cannot get enough leverage/grip to remove the old filter.

I changed the filter, ran 4+ gallons of water, and the water is still murky and the light still calls for having to replace the filter...HELP!!!

Roger Menezes Nope. It can be running. Once the old one is removed the water stops but may want a cloth for a few drips that can come out.
