Here is a seventh idea. Those four abstracts could be printed onto four coffee mugs. They would make a unique set of mugs and a great gift.

Also, you can make a simple silhouette mask from a file folder and paint around it., leaving a colorful fish or bird, etc. On a dark background.

Thanks, Denise! It's funny when you look at the pieces. You usually can find some pretty amazing 'hidden' areas that you might not have noticed.

Thanks, Chris. Initially, I thought the painting was exciting, until you stopped (not your usual style). Then you showed what to do with our experimental pieces and 'holy cow' these were terrific. Just shows to go that we should keep our judgements at bay. And, not care what "others may prefer".

Love how you work, you are just like me in the your method and boldness. May I ask how you FRAME your finished pieces!⁉️ Thanks so much for sharing. Its keeps me motivated to have access to other artists in their studios. I think we need to get together for real more than we do, in real world too.

Thanks, Dancing Queen! That would be great to be able get together with more artists in person. 👍 It really depends on the piece. Something like the small pieces that come from this video will probably just go matted in a small white frames, but I like to do either no frame or floating frames for the canvas and wood panels. How do you frame yours?

I’m really enjoying your abstract lessons. I’m not sure yet even if I should have any expectations! But I’m enjoying the experimentation. I love bright colors, but now I’m going to do the black and white challenge. I don’t know where I’m going, but as the little rascals used to say “I don’t know where I’m going, but I’m on my way!” Thank you so much for opening this door.

Thanks so much, Luann! Haha...I love that quote, it's perfect for abstract painting. I go into every painting with no expectations other than "I'm going to paint" and the excitement of seeing where the painting takes me. Play and have fun and the wonderful pieces will show up along the way.

Thanks, Pam! I spray these with Krylon Workable Fixatif Spray - amzn.to/442Diey first and then give them one thin coat of varnish. The fixitive will keep the pastels from smearing. Hope that helps 😊

In this piece it was a piece of gessoed 400 gsm watercolor paper by Bellofoy. Unfortunately, I can't find this paper anymore. I'm down to my last few sheets. I also use 300 gsm watercolor paper. Hope this helps.

I think it would be better NOT to speed them up sometimes. Because even though you are saying you aren't thinking when it's sped up it gets exaggerated and I'd like to really see how long it takes you between each addition of an element

When you cut them up and frame them, do you think it would be a good marketing strategy to sell them for a dollar just to get you work out there. Not you personally, a beginning Artist.
@chrisloudart
@chrisloudart 10 ай бұрын
Hey Minna! That's a great question. You could ask 100 different artists and get 100 different answers to that question. My personal thought is $1 is too low. Many people will shy away from art with low price tags because they think something must be wrong with it if it is so inexpensive. If it were me, I wouldn't go lower than $15-$20 for a 5x7 inch painting. But, with that said, do what you think is write. I've sold 9x12 practice paintings for $10 before and was happy to do so. I hope that helps😊
